color of tiled floor to go with brown colour granite worktop + island?

Please suggest us which colour tiled floor would look best in our open plan living kitchen area? The size of the open plan living area is about 9m× 7m - it is a rear extension which opens to the garden. We are so confused. I've added the pic of the granite and our kitchen plan. Looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you.

What colour fascias are you having on the units? Just basing it on the colour of the granite I'd suggest cream but if you're having white fronts then no as it'll clash.

I just wanted to share my experience because I am on a non existent budget too. I saw a picture of a bench I loved, contacted the carpenter, and he has just made me a birch ply kitchen for a total of 1600 euros, including fitting. (600 labour, 400 fitting, 600 for materials). He has kept his price low for me because he likes the project. I am guaranteed to use him now to build wardrobes, boxes, and shelving solutions as and when I have budget. Sometimes talking to individuals who work for themselves/do it on the side can result in very cost-effective solutions! I am paying 300 euros for brushed stainless steel countertops, and got a belfast sink for 100 euro including the mixer tap. Will send u a pic when it's done but my almost dream kitchen has been possible for like 2000 euros (£1800?) I wouldn't shy away from painting the units yourself as there are many tutorials online to show you how, but it is labour-intensive and eggshell paint on cabinets = drips!! You could always just get white or raw cabinets for now, and paint later when you have some cash? Make sure you use quality brushes if you go this route. Nothing more annoying than little hairs sticking in your lovely paint :-/

Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights.

You could look at luxury vinyl flooring (quick step, karndean, amtico to name a few) in a wood look pattern. Practical, softer in your feet than tile or laminate, and a warm look.

Mixing granite and marble worktops in kitchen

Hi again, It has been a while but we now have samples of everything. The white marble top will be on the island which is the grey colour, with an oak end-grain butchers block. The dark granite will be on the white units around the perimeter and the floor will be engineered oak parquet laid in a herringbone pattern. In the photo the granite looks a bit darker than in real life. Both worktops will be matt finished between a honed and polished finish. We are not completely decided on the walls yet and I am considering timeless or purbeck stone/Johnston’s copy of purbeck stone as the budget is getting tight towards the end of our project! The room is north, north east facing and I would prefer to keep it slightly warmer toned, than too cool. We will decide on the splashback in the new year. I originally wanted antique mirror effect but it might be too much with all the different surfaces. The other alternatives I am considering are marble metro-style tiles or plain glass. If you have any thoughts I would be pleased to hear them. Thanks again for your help.

we actually were thinking of having white. we can change to cream... I think you are right; white will be a clash. cream will e better. which floor... beige tiles?

I think your eventual choice will depend on the colour you pick for the units. While creams/sand/limestone coloured doors will work nicely with your choice of granite, I still think white will go too. As to tiles, I'd probably go for a porcelain with a bit of physical texture (some "grit") and tones which mix beiges through to greys. This should pick up the mix of the granite. Alternatively, I'd look at wood effect Karndean or Palioclik (possibly Arezzo) in a Sand Oak type colour. Sample image here.
