What's your favourite memory of your childhood home?

With Mother’s Day on the horizon, we can’t help but go way back to our childhoods and all the memories that come with the homes we grew up in. They’re not just backdrops to our childhoods – our homes and all the bits and bobs within them can help shape who we are and how we got there.

Sunday roasts with the mum in your life, barbecues in the back garden or that time you spilled hot chocolate on the carpet and blamed it on the dog – what are your favourite memories and traditions from your childhood home? Is there anything you brought with or recreated in your new home?

What concerns me about buying furniture on-line is that I can't try it out to see if it is comfortable and if it fits me , which for me is a crucial quality in furniture (I'm taller, shorter chairs aren't a good fit). I also don't like not being able to assess the quality. I'm not a big fan of on-line furniture retailers for that reason and probably would not use one. So research the market, and especially the price point at which people will buy on-line. I suspect younger people are more apt to buy furniture that is reasonably priced on-line. Include all measurements (including seat height on chairs) and have a review/comment section so people can see how the folks who have bought furniture like both quality and the delivery service.

Mine ..was a big Manor House ... Where we used toooo Go Srumping for Apples ......from what we called the forbidden tree .. Thinking back ...I was always the one who went up the tree leaving ...my so called friends down below On lookout ...and picking up fallen apples We always wondered who lived there ... We dreamed of having many servants .. Big ball gowns ...chandeliers ... And lots of other dreamy things .. I ended up in a cottage ... But hay....I have the chandeliers

I look forward to seeing my dog and cat. They give me such a lovely friendly welcome home without fail, it's a great feeling. I also love my home and feel so comfortable just being there. Of course I should say my other half makes all the difference as well!
