Comments (18)I have a similar fireplace in my north facing living room in my Victorian house and I have painted the surround white and it looks lovely (ours was a darker wood than yours and not very nice). I have grey elsewhere in the house but opted for dark blue, Farrow and Ball Hague Blue, in the living room. I decided in a North facing room to embrace the fact it is not that light and go dark, and I found that blue wasn't as cold as grey. It looks great although I have to say that we don't use that room during the day as we have a family room on the back of the house which is south facing and that is white at the moment, I like the contrast and the living room feels like a lovely cosy grown up room. Hope that helps!...See MoreNeed some advice regarding our dining room!
Comments (18)hi I love the elegant look of this room. I particularly like the colour and style of your furniture (looks pinky tone on my pic which is lovely) I think you need a little more drama in there and agree paint chimney breast I would go really dark and moody to lift your wall paper and furniture like a chalky charcoal in silk to pick up shimmer in paper I would keep accessories in either silver or gold I would choose silver chrome to pick up the beautiful mirror which I love and feel chrome will give it a more edgey look. keep paintwork white to contrast. im not s lover of the corner unit and would go with ladder shelves in white or a drinks table in lovely chrome and lovely mirrored pieces thats what I see anyway but lovely starting point would not dismiss tinkering with it a bit more. lots to like there already...See MoreInspiration needed for south facing living room with barley gold sofa
Comments (9)Hello a bit late, perhaps your room is done? :) I would just say not to go with the blues and grays, our living room currently has oatmeal carpet, we recently moved in and put our chocolate brown couches and gold/cream/beige striped silk cushions in there. There was a blue feature wall and we had to paint it ! Looked awful. We are eventually changing the whole room for a black/gray/white scheme but as it is, blue and gray definitely don't match. Of all the paint options celerygirl posted I like the dark rich shades the best. Maybe just a feature wall if you're hesitant and the other 3 off-white. Not sure if this is any use!...See MoreUser
