House layout ideas

Hi all,

We've just purchased a house that is circa 1920's. It's in need of extensive works in every room. We aren't afraid of a bit of work as we have previously completed a double extension. I've got a rough idea of the layout, but want to see if any of you can see something I can't!

What we want to create is...

  • Square kitchen with an island unit, got one in our current property and we love it! There was a small extension already done in the kitchen (the dividing wall between the existing cloakroom & utility) so might have to put a pillar in which I don't want to do...
  • Build a new Utility room & downstairs cloakroom using the car port. It's wooden and the roof is falling down, wanted to knock this down and build a small single storey extension with the utility and cloakroom in it.
  • Playroom - maybe use the study?
  • The family room on the right of the entrance is open and don't really want to make it into a closed room as the hallway will then be really dark.
  • Ensuite for the main bedroom, we don't need 5 bedrooms.
  • We used New Wave sliding doors previously, thinking of doing the majority of the back of the living room & kitchen, depending on cost....

We are open to ideas on this one and looking forward to your ideas!
