Does painting clay statues counts? Because since I'd discovered cracking clay, I've been playing at making figurines - that I paint after they dry. Canvases however, I managed to paint a great total of 3 before giving up (not counting here stuff I'd done in primary school :)). According to a critic, I have eye for colour but no technique (and I agree, since my training consists in watching youtube videos on "how to..."). I might try again, at the moment though I'm obsessed with perfecting the wing making technique (!!) for my Icaruses....

Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement.

Do you paint your windows in or paint them a contrasting colour?

We have hardwood timber windows so they stay as they are. If I had upvc or softwood painted windows I'd have white. Definitely not the same colour as the walls. That just looks as though it was a quick splash over.

Any colour can go with any colour: It is a question of intensity of hue and temperature and % used as contrast or compliment. If using two colours in a vast expanse, it is better to use two of the same range (for example, blues) of the similar intensity and temperature, eg two dark warm blues. Then add the pop of colour (no more than 10% of your room and you're good to go. Then add the jewellery: chandeliers, door handles etc, as one would adornment on a person. Ex2: A cold 'toilet blue' would not go with the above- The temperatures are different. I hope this helps. Ausbengal, teal would go perfectly, because the colour remains (shades of blue) and temperature and intensity are changed, thus being used as an accent colour, but not in a vast expanse, for example, the entire wall.
