European style cabinets

I was told that there is no molding available for high gloss or acrylic covered upper cabinets to be able to fill the gap between them and ceiling. Is this true?

We hired a cabinet installer who has experience hacking IKEA cabinets. He used pieces cut from an IKEA gable panel in the same finish as the cabinets.

Thank you for your quick response. Much appreciated. Are you inclined to recommend IKEA cabinets for someone looking at a midrange budget?

Hi Michael, Sorry, but I have to partially disagree with you on this, daylight colour temperature is 6500K not 4000K. Yes, 4000K is warmer than 6500K but it does not give a truer representation of colour. Colour representation is measured using the colour rendering index or CRI. The closer to 100, the closer to daylight. The Megaman LEDs are 80 CRI for each of the colour temperatures. That said, the 4000K fitting will produce a brighter and cleaner feel to the room. However, it can look too harsh at night. 2700K is closer to traditional halogen fittings. It can look duller during the day, but looks a lot more welcoming in the evening - perfect for a soak in the bath. It comes down to personal preference in the end

This is a kitchen I made a couple of years ago. My clients wanted the design to be sympathetic to the 60's block of flats that it was going to be situated in. There are hints of 50's style as well which I also used as a reference point. It's quite a compact kitchen but the proportions worked out very well and it sits on turned wooden legs to lift it off the ground and make it feel a little more airy. The wood is European Oak with veneered doors and solid worktop. Reeded glass was used in the wall unit doors.

Dryer- try to get one that vents in a way that suits your room- or condensing dryers are good. Washing machine- Lots now seem to have really long wash programmes- try to find one that can do a load in an hour. Also delay start is useful as the noise intrusion can be while you are out or sleeping. Single oven are available with a choice of features- you could choose self cleaning, a microwave, steam oven, sous vide or a combination. Microwave - personally I think if you have a single oven it is useful to have the microwave in a combination oven so you can have additional oven space for high days and holidays.

We find them more flexible than factory made cabinets, and cheaper than custom cabinets, so thyey make a good mid range choice. Getting someone who can hack them opens up some good 'custom' installations.
