Could you add a faux 'log' store adjoining it, or a faux cupboard, to centre the whole thing in the space without moving the fireplace? If you added a shallow wall-frame to the right of the fireplace (same height, and extending to the right to create exact symmetry of the outside edge of the fireplace) you could some log slices in it to simulate a log store. Or just add a custom cupboard front to the right, so it looks like a part of the fireplace unit...

I hadn't initially spotted the trunk, it looks quite slim and should hopefully work in that you can move around it plus it brings furniture into the middle of the room. In terms of the sofa my first choice would be green if you want a colour rather than a neutral and it looks as if you like that colour anyway! I think a chair could possibly work either to the left or right of the fire. It's hard when you have furniture in a room but cutting out paper templates of everything or using cardboard boxes always works. At least the tv isn't taking up room :) good luck in whatever you do, it really is a lovely room

Another thought would be to balance it visually by adding a false display of wood stacked up in a recess. A mantel shelf could then span the entire width providing a visual divide. The upper portion could take an art piece or mirror across the section with out looking unbalanced.

Hi all, I got this living room wall with an off-center fireplace that also doesn’t have the usual recesses on either side. Please ignore the lighting and shelving choices on the pic. All that needs to go. Any shelving that I put on either side will stick out beyond the fireplace and will look weird. Any thoughts on how to decorate this place? I was hoping to have the Samsung Frame TV over the fireplace, but want to avoid the hanging cables situation… I guess this wall as it is now requires quite a bit of work to get to something nice looking and functional… would be grateful for any suggestions. Ultimately would also fireplace change the mantle to something more traditional and better looking. This is a flat in an old mansion block. What would you do with this?
