Well you can make up a pull out shelf like that with the drawer runners available on hafele and they do the shutter units too ?! About 15 years ago you could get sprung pop up shelves for mixers etc - but most companies withdrew them as they weren't stable enough .... Try popping into 'Magnets' or 'Wren' to see if they do them still ?

Thanks for everyone's comments. This is really helpful and so nice to get such constructive and thoughtful comments. This is our first major project and builders got us to first fix and my husband is doing the rest of the work himself (kitchen, bathroom installation, tiling). This forum is exactly what it's all about - design advice and solution solving from those that have been there and done it. You're right Victoria - in an ideal world we could have had a higher windowsill (we're not keen on the counter top running into the window sill) but so hard to get every measurement spot on when you're planning a kitchen when the extension is just a shell. We're getting there though and really pleased so far. Just interior design and 2 bathrooms to go!

I can just about see the marks that you mean, and really do sympathise, but your kitchen looks fabulous! When I get a new 'thing', i am horribly anxious until the first mark, after which I find I can relax. You have to live in the space, not maintain a showhome. My pal's husband installed a uniquely-shaped gleaming stainless steel countertop and, during the first week, while whisking a vinaigrette, she got salt under the bowl. Disaster. So, amidst much angst, husband took wire wool to the whole surface to achieve a grainy surface. Temporary disappointment followed by relaxation! Time to get out your Grayson Perry vase of peonies and open a bottle...

@User The toilet can't easily be moved unfortunately as that's the external wall (where the waste flue is). I also just tried that on the floorplanner and the gap between bath and shower would be narrower than if it was between the vanity and shower :(
