Exterior wood paint colour?
Comments (12)Annabel, I wouldn't paint something like window frames in a colour that's trendy at the moment. You're probably not going to do it again in 5 years and if not, they could look dated. However, if that's what you like... there are lots of nice greys out there - any paint shop has them at the moment, as they are so fashionable. Farrow&Ball has quite a few nice ones, e.g: http://www.farrow-ball.com/brassica/colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/100271 For your house though... I think either a green or a smoked blue or purple could look great (and you could become a trendsetter in your neighbourhood). A neighbour has had her front door and frames done in Farrow&Ball Ball Green - she told me she had people knocking her door to ask the paint colour (I can take a photo tomorrow if you want to see it directly). One colour I played with was Amethyst by Fired Earth - they have great stuff; also look at their National Trust collection - some are really inspiring. From experience, you're better off ordering their paint online, as often you can't find the shade you need in shops that carry Fired Earth stuff. http://www.firedearth.com/paint/colour/reds-pinks-purples/amethyst Dulux Pressed Thistle is a great blue-grey, although I'm not sure if they sell it as exterior wood paint. I bought Dulux Chic Shadow two weeks ago and love it. And to convince you (I hope!) that purple is great for windows and doors, have a look at my own place - we even did the pergola in it :)) What I used is Cuprinol Lavender (http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/cuprinol-garden-shades---lavender---25l-030486) as a last coat, the wood has had grey undercoat & primer and proper exterior paint underneath, as Cuprinol is not that long lasting, but I loved the colour and couldn't get it anywhere else so I used it against my decorator's advice (it still looks great after 2 years!) I hope this helps, let me know if you want me to takes pics of my neighbour's door, she won't mind. Good luck!...See MoreHow to Improve Faux Distressed Wood Flooring

While the exact procedure will vary from brand to brand, you will usually need to ventilate the area, apply the adhesive stripper, and wait several hours to get it done. Once you have done this, you can continue. Consult the manufacturer's instructions carefully before using an adhesive stripper. You can see https://ittybittysbutt.tumblr.com/ Once the scraper has done its job, remove the attenuated adhesive with a metal scraper. This can damage the surface of your wooden floor, but this is inevitable. Finish by sweeping or vacuuming your hardwood floor. This may reveal more tacks or staples that were not noticed the first time. If so, remove them before proceeding. Step 3 - Prepare the soil Use your floor grinder to grind the floor. Use long straight strokes that cover the entire length of the floor. Keep the floor grinder as steady as possible while you do this. Start with your heaviest sandpaper. When you're done sanding the entire floor, move on to a lighter sandpaper. Finish your broom, the shopvac and wipe the floor to remove dirt. Small particles that remain during the sealing process become trapped, making your finish less attractive and functional. Step 4 - Rework the soil Use a cloth to put your mark of choice on the floor. This may take several layers; Take into account a combination of the manufacturer's instructions and your personal opinion on your preferred appearance for the floor. If you need to apply several coats, clean the floor between the coats to prevent dirt from being sealed in the surface....See MoreIKEA wooden pegs/dowels protruding through wooden table (photos)
Comments (4)Looks like the dowels were too long? Did they come with the table? If so then it’s their fault. This happened with a bath I had installed. They had supplied screws that were too long so they went straight into the bath! Luckily my plumber got a replacement from the suppliers....See Morewhat is this putty/seal stuff called
