Need suggestions how to give the front of our 1970's house a facelift!
Comments (10)You've done a lovely job on the back extension, which seems to be a totally different property from the front. The trick would be to alter the front, making it more modern and in keeping with your new extension. 1. Replace the windows with more modern ones like at the rear. You'll probably find that the small upstairs window is on a landing and there isn't room to make it bigger. If there is room to the left of the front door as you face the house from the street, consider making this a floor to ceiling glass window and glass door combination http://www.urbanfront.co.uk/images/doors/Image/clearglass_jpg.jpg . The upstairs window should be aligned to the glass window below it. Match the front door to the garage door. http://www.thegaragedoorcentre.co.uk/UserFiles/Image/Hormann%20Front%20entrance%20Doors/anthracite_300.jpg The entrance porch roof can be replaced and extended across the front, up to the left hand window, with glass and steel similar to the lantern on the back extension. Lastly, the front could be landscaped with a path from the driveway through a contemporary, low maintenance garden. Since you have several Mediterranean type plants, you might consider that kind of look. Include a specimen tree to the far left and lose the overgrown shrub near the driveway....See MoreLarge 1960s house needs a facelift
Comments (35)I love this house. I'd suggest keeping the front door recessed. That little bit of shelter over your head will be useful when you or your guests arrive and it's raining.. You've had some great suggestions....See MoreHelp with a very noughties bathroom?
Comments (20)Hi Susi! I'm a designer for Bathroom Eleven and we specialise in interior design and bathroom design. Perhaps you can introduce a new texture to liven it up a bit. A few ideas I've listed below but not all to be used in conjunction with each other :) Here they are: - Change the bath panel to a wood effect style and match with some wooden accessories - a shelf, a framed mirror - Paint the wall behind the mirror or wallpaper - or even perhaps change to a bespoke mirror to fill that whole space - On the bespoke mirror idea, mirror half the space above the basin, and then have some matching shelving in a wood texture to match the bath panel - Change the floor to Amtico or Vinyl in a wood effect - Change the basin to one with a storage unit underneath - Plants! Bring some outdoors, in. A big current trend and some plants that thrive in bathroom environments will bring colour and natural life into that room. - Mosaic or feature tile the wall behind the mirror and cabinet to a complimentary blend between the floor and wall tile - Art work - you have a nice, tall, space next to the WC - artwork is always a lovely way to bring colour into the room. Hope this helps! - Adam...See More60's house facelift
