If there was a demister pad (1500mm x 500mm) behind it to take away the steam, would that make a difference?

That’s going to be some bathroom! Love the window and also the mirror idea.

I’m sure a heated mirror will do the job of demisting, particulally since it’s a genorous sized room.

Does the chandelier need to have certain IP rating?

I stayed in a hotel once with a full mirrored wall opposite the bath. I didn't like it in the least and for some reason it made me feel vulnerable, I guess it was sort of, the feeling that I wasn't alone.

I wouldn’t have minded standing in the bath and looking at myself starkers 30 years ago, but alas as is normal with age everyone has shifted south so I personally couldn’t cope with it.

I think I'd go for art personally centred over the bath, then add chair/stool/large plant to the right of the bath. The window looks great and obviously your eyes are drawn to that so would either chose blinds that don't hide it or curtains. It looks like it will be a great room

We have a wall length (and height) mirror in our main bathroom and yes Patrina everytime I walk into that space, I smile!...

I'm with Daisy..........I think the idea in principal works and it probably would look really good, however, living with it and having to look at all that bare flesh approaching the bath.............not great.

The window and the chandelier are enough and i'd stay with the less is more look. For me the view out of the window would be better than the view in the mirror.

Mirrors are just glass and you are so much more than that, you beautiful people :)

I think something along the lines of what Danielle posteed will be good, add interest in and of itself, and not just reflect. When you're in the tub the reflection of walls and ceiling on there won't be all that interesting.

Art suitable for a wet space is of course another option, but the right mirror can be great.

Don't feel deflated, it's just a re-think required. Maybe look at some artwork for the wall to give you the drama you are looking for. Maybe commission something personal using metals and crystals to bounce light around and compliment the re-positioned chandelier, the possibilities are endless...

Could you source another chandelier?

Could you put some book-matched marble behind there instead?

I really only have a budget of approx £300, as much as it would be lovely to have some artwork - it has to ultimately bathroom proof as this is master en suite so will be used every day. The shower is only a few metres away.

I have looked for other chandeliers but would as I have only got the height of 2350mm I would need a flush light to the ceiling. I have put the chandelier wire into the middle of the bathroom. I am still looking for a wow factor behind the bath, whether it be beautiful tiles or a mirror with a demister behind it.

I am keen for it to look a like a feminine boutique bathroom.

Suzanne, re a mural/wallpaper you can buy specific paper suitable for bathrooms with a vinyl coating. Alternatively, as wallpaper in bathrooms seems to be popular ATM you can apply a couple of coats of Polyvine decorators varnish (dead flat version), I'd do a test patch first though and that's assuming you have some form of extraction in there.

i don't have a shower in my bathroom but I've got a canvas over the bath which is fine as an alternative.

So, the electrician has been and gone and we have opted for a smaller chandelier in the middle of the room so we don't hit our heads as we walk in. As we have an chopped our house around and changed every single internal wall and most of the outside too! We now have a fairly modern feel in the house. I put the mural suggestion to my husband who wan't too keen, I mentioned the distressed mirror and he likened it to the other older mirrors that we have just removed from the house.

The taps are going on the dwarf stud wall behind the bath, so there are no options to put a floor to ceiling mirror/mural/plant. The space I will have is approx 150mm above the bath to the ceiling. Approx height 1400 x width 2000mm. I only have about £150-£600 to spend so it has to be something fairly low key but with a wow effect or I won't get it approved by husband who holds on tightly to the purse strings!

So we have some options:

Either tile and have a feature tile design...

Or something like a Venetian style mirror..

Plastering about to start next week in the bathroom, we have scrapped the idea of tiles, mirrors or a mural and we are going for a painted wood panel effect with a stone shelf on a dwarf wall. Similar to this picture below...
