kitchen layout dilemma
We are moving the living room to the smaller dining room next door but should be ok size wise as we’ll be spending most of the time here as it opens into the garden.
My dilemma is I am not sure what will be the best kitchen layout, kitchen will be in the green bit, and the red bits are the door to the room and garden doors respectively. Besides the dining table I would like to be able to fit a sofa as well so it can be a sort of family room at the same time, I appreciate the size is not the biggest but we are not in a position to build an extension and having a separate kitchen is not working for us. We also have a stove in here (yellow bit) to make the placement of furniture more challenging if I’d like to fit everything I want to fit in.
I am open to suggestions to see what kind of layout will fit best, I am thinking U shape but I also I like the idea of having a breakfast bar but I dont know if it will be too tight.. please help!!

I think you'll fit it in if you're careful. You probably don't have the room for stools at the peninsula, and you need the distances checked by a kitchen planner for the hob and sink to adhere to regulations.

Have kitchen along the back wall and side wall...lots of units plus space for cooking island too with views out double doors - 7 years ago
How big is your household? Because a 6 person table and U kitchen and sofa is really tight.

The kitchen will work across the back , but not with an island in front of it, or even a Peninsula as there isn't enough room.

However, you could do something like this, which gives you loads of kitchen space:-

You can't fit in a kitchen across the back and an island or peninsula as there just isn't enough room.

I don't know what the stove looks like, how big it is, but you could work around it, or remove it possibly to give you a much better kitchen layout, like this:-

I've tried several layouts too.
An island with cooktop, sink and dishwasher. A row of tall cabinets for fridge and ovens, some low for coffee machine. Would get a slightly longer table, no extra seating though.
Here I imagined the stove not being there (underfloor heating?) and rotated the island. This way created space for two or three barstools.
Kitchen in the 'old spot', two tall cabinets on the back wall, with sink and dishwasher next to it. Cooktop and two stools, no third because of narrow walkway. Added a small loveseat.
Kitchen against the top wall, fridge on the left. Tall cabinets for ovens and stock, plus 'coffee bar' where the old kitchen used to be.
I think I like the first one most, even though there isn't much workspace on one side of the island (having deeper cabinets on the front might solve this).
