Which is the most colourful room in your home?
Comments (33)Hi Ocean Clarke ( lovely name!). I started collecting glass in general about five years ago, picking g it up in charity shops, car boots and auctions. One day I found a piece of Whitefriars glass and it knocked all the other glass into a cocked hat! I got rid of most of the other glass and started collecting Whitefriars, the best glass ever made in the UK, in my opinion. It took me roughly three years to put this collection together but it is more difficult to find, so most of it I bought on eBay or through auctions. I found the occasional piece in charity shops, and bought a lot from a retiring collector. I've virtually stopped now due to chronic lack of space but we are moving into a larger home soon and my ambition is to have custom built glass shelving with great lighting and glass doors (dusting this little lot takes three hours wearing white cotton gloves, eeeek)!!! If that happens, fingers crossed, I will post further pictures. BTW! I also collect genie bottles!...See MoreHow to finish my living room Mediterranean summer vibe decor?
Comments (10)Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions this is really inspiring! I've been looking into shutters but would like something softer around the window too, maybe voiles or something. I love all the attached pictures, where can I buy it all? I also really wanted to add something bold with the Greek key pattern but I haven't found anything I like yet. I love Greek and Roman styles, gods and gladiators and holidays in Europe have been my inspiration for the wall I wanted to bring it all to my living room in rainy England to cheer my up on those dull days! Any ideas how I can add the greek key pattern? I don't have any more pictures with me but the room flows through to a dining area/extended seating area at the end with patio doors on to the garden. Its an extension so we have an arch between the rooms with ceramic up lights under the arch. This end of the room is still white. I would gratefully receive ideas for this end of the room too....See MoreSummer House/ Garden Room advice please
Comments (3)We’ve had a large summerhouse built and have been using it since Dec. It has a toilet and shower and sink for doing a little washing up. It’s being used as an office as well as a man games room. It’s about 70m from our house and the water supply and drainage was a must to gain maximum usage and also stop dirty children running through the house in the summer. We did have a water supply half way up from a previous installation. The drainage added cost, but the company we went with used a pumped system which needed much less digging and can be hidden in bushes. We have 2 wall heaters for heat, as we decided to save on the cost of under floor heating. The floor is very cold, slippers are a must - I’m not sure that underfloor would have been enough though. Here’s some pics...See MorePaint or natural summer house
Comments (5)think i'd prefer it natural (weathered) rather than that grey. if you want to paint it, the colour needs to be pulled from the stone you already have down. i feel like that grey is a bit too blue/green and the stone patio is more pink/purple. so either get more of a taupe grey (pink/purple undertones) or go to a darker charcoal to merge more with the fence (make it blend into the background and recede) or choose more of a beige colour so that it ties in with the stone better - something natural, stone coloured. Or choose a colour like green or pink or yellow to make more of a statement....See MoreDaisy England
