Paint advice needed
Morning,
We have just painted our chimney breast in Stiffkey blue. It is a fairly small lounge which is north facing but with a big bay window so light. There are shelves to go up in the alcoves, a stove to go in, plus a big mirror on the chimney breast. My question is do I paint the alcoves too?
The other 3 walls (and inside the fireplace) will either be ammonite, skimming stone or Wevet.

Comments (3)I’ve just had the same issue and I opted to get all walls plastered then sanded down to give completely smooth walls. They were then painted and the finish was excellent. Comments (16)I think the sofa's are dating the room, so along with Carolina's great blue walls i'd go for a sofa cover and re-do the footstool. Tone down some of the pine by painting it to match. Change the rug, My daughter recently bought covers from Amazon sofa cover, and was really impressed with the quality, She then treated herself to a co-ordinating armchair, thus saving a fortune....See More

7 years agoWhatever colour you do the walls, I agree with E D i'd paint the shelve either in the same colour as the Chimney stack, or leave a natural wood to go with a mantel shelf.
I would definitely paint the cupboards Stiff Key though.
I wouldn't paint inside the alcove anything but black, log burners make a mess and you'll see the dirt very easily on a pale wall. We left ours brick.
