does lighter tile dark carpet work or should colour choice flow throughout the house.
deciding not to upgrade carpets so looking for advice to maximise the limited choices I have!!

Hello loubrad1973, I would suggest a wood flooring that continues from your hall into the living room.... Are the sofas next to each other for a reason.. You could split them up and have 1 in the other room? I don't see why silvery grey won't go with brown or plum... Have found a couple of cushions which I think you might like 1 is lighter and offers contrast, you could also add a bit of plum... I'd put 2 on one side rather than all the way along... Also you can add to the feel by finding a nice silvery grey plain throw.... Folded over one arm, or on the other folded over the back a little to one side or layer 2 colours... Dark grey and light silvery grey with accents of plum.. :)) ...

I can't think why leather floors would be a good idea, so i read up on it and found this interesting article. It seems, that as you would expect, you are up the S*** Creek without a paddle as they say as soon as you scrape them, scratch them or spill anything on them. Therefore, unless you covered the whole lot in boat varnish, supposing it would stick in the first place and change the durability, they aren't a good idea. It's difficult to say without knowing what style you like. I personally like a bit of the dramatic in a bathroom, so really dark greys for the walk in shower and maybe floor to ceiling tiles but in panels where the sinks are.As for the mirror, i think that's down to personal choice, but i would have tiles behind the sink. They can mirror the tiles in the walk in shower:- Do you want modern or traditional, either way, go for opulence:-The lighting and mirrors can help with that. Smoked glass shower door instead of clear?? Also helps with privacy for the person in the showerYou may like a more light and airy approach? Do you have an accent colour in mind for the bedroom that you could carry through to the bathroom - turquoise for example. Change the way the tiles are laid, ie Herringbone on a statement wall ( shower )Of course you could go a more standard route with the tiling and have counter tops with back stands and bring excitement in somewhere else. You need to have a good think about what you like. Open and Idea book and start whittling down what you do and don't like. You'll get there in the end!

Sounds fine to me. You could always get a nice rug to cosy up the sitting room and carpeted stairs are still very popular. Some people paint their stairs. My kitchen is slate effect porcelein tiles, sitting room and hall is rustic oak laminate with a Persian rug in the sitting room. My stairs are carpeted. That’s variety for you!

Is the tile for a kitchen and carpet in sitting room? I think similar colours would flow nicely, but to be honest there aren’t any golden rules. Do what is convenient for you. I have wood in my sitting room and dark grey slate in my kitchen with a horrid gold threshold, but it was the only one that fitted the gap!

thanks Sonia. tiles will be kitchen and living. carpet in bedrooms and theatre room. that is my dilemma. I found a grey that flows and a dark contrast that looks great. my concern is everything sticks to dark!!
