Flooring Cleaning Tips Kitchens

slate effect riven textured tiles cleaning

Hello.. we are thinking of laying slate effect porcelain tiles which are riven textured in the kitchen. We love the look but are worried if it’ll be a pain to clean these as we think there might be dirt captured in the textured parts. Any help will be appreciated thanks!

That is exactly why I wouldn’t have them in a kitchen.......look great on a chimney breast.

This is a question i get asked all the time. We sell miles of Wood Effect Porcelain Tiles for anything from a small cloakroom floor to huge living spaces. Like someone said Porcelain is Cold to touch where as the real thing, not as much. Most of the Builds we supply it to are installing Water underfloor heating throughout the areas its being fixed to so you avoid this problem. With the phenomenal technology being used to create these tiles they are now available in Lengths of up to 1700, they are looking more and more authentic. With hundreds of factories around the globe all giving it their best shot there really are some true stunners that not only fool the eye but the touch too. The positives of Porcelain really outweigh the negatives, no warping, no swelling, no staining or scratching. We once had a customer that replaced her traditional wood with porcelain because it was so much easy to look after and she didn't need to worry about her cleaner using the wrong product and staining it. Be careful with Amtico as they are not all UV protected and can fade. We have recently fitted wood effect vinyl click flooring in a number of kitchens & bathrooms by Moduleo. They are a great alternative to tiles & are suitable for UFH. We're choosing them for our open plan kitchen/dining/living room. We need the durability of tile for the living and dining area, but stone look tiles feel wrong for a sitting area (in chilly UK). So we're hoping wood look tiles, with UFH, will give the best of both. Just a shame there is no way to avoid grout!

Sawn or riven Indian stone for patio?

We have cheap pale grey riven laid in a contemporary style which looks great. No problem with algae or flaking. It is also more allowing for the usual garden dirt due to its texture. The sawn looks lovely if you are really careful about keeping it clean. The riven somehow looks a little less austere - good for us as it looks neat but is forgiving when it comes to dog paw prints, foot prints etc....
