First new home, colour and style help please!
Comments (12)Hi. I agree with shelleyuk about switching the sofas - I would put the green one where the cream one is (because it has the chaise part it looks like it blocks the area too much where it currently is and would be better near the wall). If you don't want to move the radiator, I would put the TV on a sideboard on the right of the back doors and then have the cream sofa in front of the radiator. Hang a big piece of art above it. I'd also get quite a big coffee table and play with the cushions so that some that came with the green sofa are on the cream sofa so it ties it all together. I wouldn't bother with curtains unless you need it for heat because they are nice doors letting in a lot of light with a good view of the garden. I can't really tell where the foot traffic will be and what is behind the cream sofa. Is there enough room for a separate seating area? Or a console table behind the sofa?...See MoreHow can I make everything tie in on a tight budget?
Comments (12)Hi. If you can sew I would make your own curtains, rather than cream I would go for white and silver grey. The other option is to buy some cheap ready made curtains and either add borders in a luxury fabric or add something like a Pom pom trim etc. I would probably stop buying bits until you've sat down and looked at schemes you like. Once you've done that then make up a mood board so you can see how it all ties together. It just means you won't waste money on buying stuff you don't like. I would also look at trying to create a focal point as you don't have a fire, this could be art or a mirror over a cabinet for example. Or hang your tv above a console and add art around it.The biggest change for me atm would be to add cushions to lighten the sofa up though. I would also keep an eye on ebay, antique shops, country house auctions etc for maybe a replacement desk and a coffee table. Adding a lamp will add cosiness. I saw this fab light at george of asda the other day for £20. No idea what it looks like in the flesh but looks nice online!...See MoreHow do I tie together these bedroom items?
Comments (7)Hi. What colour are your ŵalls? I might go a chalky white with the shelves the same colour. Can your fire surround be painted? If so, would you consider orange? If not an orange mirror over the top or buy one you can paint. For the bed I'd add a grey'ish sheepskin throw, a couple of cushions in the bed colour, one with texture and one which you can add some buttons to, plus a geometric cushion in a larger or smaller scale than the bedlinen with some orange in. If you have room I'd add little shelves either side of the bed and add orange anglepoise lights. If not, then add one on the chest of drawers ( but I might paint that then). Over the bed 3 scandi style prints. I've found this one. The other 2 I'd keep fairly neutral rather than more orange https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/65129921/eames-poster-mid-century-poster-nursery?ref=market...See MoreWhat colour and style of door would best suit this house?
Comments (7)Hi, If you want to go bold, I'd go all the way, I like the green posted above, but I also think a vibrant teal sort of colour could work if you are going bright. I'd prefer to keep the door a more subtle tone, the two colours (amongst the many other colours which would work) which I liked were a cream or a soft green. I've attached (not very good, so fiddly when using your phone) mock ups, in terms if colour, not so much to the design it self but double bonus points if you do like them. Good Luck...See MoreEllie
