Anyway, I haven't got the washing machine for my bathroom yet, an integrated washing machine into kitchen units is as far as I got... But they are all so kitcheny! I've seen a sink unit on a curved stand at Neptune but I don't see how this will work. Unless I put the washing machine in a cupboard. Katie x

Zinsser Bin is an excellent primer and undercoat all-in-one. In my opinion you should still very lightly sand, wash down and leave the surfaces to dry, although this isn't strictly necessary these days with a lot paints, i still prefer to do it the 'proper' way rather than risk flaking and peeling ! You can then paint over the top and i'd recommend a Satinwood or Gloss paint that are washable and waterproof. There are other primer and undercoats available that are water based and any of the water based Glosses and Satinwoods will go great over them, plus they're slightly easier to work with than the oil based paints such as Zinsser. If you go with Zinsser, i personally find, the oil based paints work with it better than water based. We actually did our whole kitchen with acrylic spray paint over the old laminated surfaces. We scratch them with a light sandpaper and then sprayed them with car paint. ( Ford, Dove Grey ) Worked a treat and still going strong after around 5 years! You do need to leave to dry thoroughly between coats, but spraying was very satisfying and easy and has left us with a scrubbable surface!
