Have you got any ideas to make this house look fantastic?
Comments (32)Hi, If you use an iPad you could download the free Dulux Visualizer app to look at different colours - it's quick and easy (but lighting conditions have to be good) For a cost effective transformation I would have to agree with you and most of the comments by painting the Front door, garage doors and windows of the house. (Use a good primer/undercoat like Zinsser external - shellac or oil based) I would advise all matching colours for a uniform country home feel. The olive green or light green looks nice. For the driveway you could go resin bound which is available in a variety of colours now and lasts much longer than Tarmac with far greater osmosis. Again adding the private home country estate feel at a reasonable price. Rendering comes in various colours (although it is costly) if within your budget will totally transform the look and feel adding to the thermal insulation. And most definitely some easy care, low maintenance plants and planters... You don't have to spend mega bucks! Although probably a good time for discounted evergreens? Comments (26)Just used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White on a solid pine unvarnished wardrobe. I watched YouTube tutorials and got advice from the shop that sold me the paint. I HATE it! Really difficult to work with, paint brush drags making my hand ache. I was told 1 or 2 coats would do but had to use 3 and I can still see the wood through it. I was told it would only use up half a pot of paint, but it has used nearly all of it. The chap who advised me (sells painted furniture for a living) said it can be finished with wax (hard work) or a Matt varnish (easier). He showed me furniture in these finishes and I chose the varnish. It was really easy to apply but has accentuated the wood colouring underneath. I'm so annoyed that after all my hard work it looks pretty rank. I wish I had used traditional primer and satinwood paint instead!...See MoreFitted or free standing sliding door wardrobes??
Comments (3)Hi Gina, I specify IKEA a lot, so I know what you are looking for. One of my clients recently introduced me to this company called "sliding wardrobe world" - I haven't used them personally but they said they were very nice and very practical. I would definitely have a look at their stuff - its very different to IKEA in that you have "flexible pieces" such as the rails which can be adjusted to fit the space. If you couldn't afford doors you could save for those later and just install the basic units. http://slidingwardrobeworld.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjwq7XMBRCDsfOh2bKh0kYSJAClSOUG6U5tv2Pt4TT1CnVbUAYOvrKBRm1fRFN3nZqR7KqbdxoCtC3w_wcB The other thing I have done with another client is proposed a smaller IKEA set in the space and the filled the "left-over gap" with another slim bookshelf to make it all look built-in... I hope this gave you a head start or at least some ideas. Jo...See MoreWardrobe door ideas - please help I’m stuck
Comments (12)Yes I did look at these as would have gone for something like that for sure if I could only find a contemporary version that wasn’t frosted glass - if anyone has seen any please do shout! emily, a carpenter friend of ours suggested Louvre doors - it maybe an option. I think I’m so hung up on the nice grey glossy sliding wardrobe doors I wanted that anything else isn’t matching up! If only I could get a grey glossy door in that barn style the previous person posted about I’d be a happy bunny! Thanks ever so much for taking the time to give your ideas...See More- 6 years ago
