Exterior paint colour advice, thanks

Here is a pic of our house. The pebble dash is staying. The bit below the pebble dash is a fairly smooth texture.

We need to freshen up the bits that are currently a cream colour as they are really mucky looking (this is an old pic, taken at least 6 years ago before we bought the house!)

Happy to change the colour or just freshen it up with similar colour?

I guess if we did change the colour then we would do same around the door frame and along the wall at front too.

Hi Ellie. Rather than change the colour of the rendering on the bottom, you could have it professionally cleaned - using a “soft wash” technique, NOT jet washing. It would bring it back to a lovely colour. We have a local company called Blue Lagoon Softwash who do this in the Northwest. Not sure where you are but you could find another local company - just make sure they do “SoftWash Solutions” as that’s the technology needed ...

That colour was f&b stony ground which is actually red based but I think must have some green in, I thought it would work with the terracotta tiles. Something like the lighter shaded white may also work although colours are normally a couple of shades lighter on the exterior. The previous owners of our house painted it farrows cream, I swear it gets more yellow each day! I don’t know anything about the render tbh but I don’t think it needs any maintenance for 20-30 years hence the initial application cost is dearer. I’ve attached this link as I’ve come across a few similar comments (but as I say I don’t know anything about the render and you’re always going to get negative reviews of things). yes the woodwork needs to go , you can give it a fresh color of paint like white, warm white , it will brighten up for sure.paint the gutters , window frames

Nicola, to be honest as its not a huge area, just the bottom band on the wall and window sills, so very easy to reach I am sure it would be much easier (cheaper) to do ourselves. I can see how getting it professionally cleaned for a 2 storey house where it is not as easily to access is sensible.

Hi Ellie. I think I’d just freshen up the existing colour to keep nice and bright. Pale blues and greens would look nice to compliment the cream and pebbledash, just in small doses, perhaps on the front door or some glazed plant pots. I like a minty green especially if it receives a lot of sunshine. A couple of large plants or trees in the planters either side of the front steps would look great as well.

I think I’d stick with just refreshing the same colour as well.

You’re doing better than us! We’ve not started looking at any of the other bits that need doing yet (driveway and front and back garden 🤦🏻‍♀️)
