Paint and Paper Library - what is the quality of the paint?
Comments (3)Hello Satkinso, I would say they are at the higher end of the paint market which I would use along with others such as Zoffany, Little Greene, Fired Earth etc etc that produce beautiful colours as they do finishes and I look for the best and unique. It could be perhaps poor execution on behalf of your decorator.. In the kindest possible way, but I have seen newly painted works from a previous clients decorator that was shockingly bad in terms of quality... I would be inclined to say it is this rather than the paint. I do though have a very good eye for snagging and I would suggest one more coat with a careful hand... See how you go to be sure before taking any other steps.. You also need a dry environment which makes for a good finish and best drying environment... If it's neither the application nor the paint, it could be the tools used... Paint roller or inferior bristle brush.. I like the softest brush for a superior finish and roller need to be very good quality and preferably shaggy looking I find works best.. : ))...See MoreTrue handless kitchen - recommendations please
Comments (29)Hello Billy, thanks for your kind comments! Yes it does look amazing :-). Yes, I'm having all Siemens appliances, the kitchen shop gets a good deal on that brand so I thought I'd go for it, otherwise I would probably have gone for Bosch or Neff if sourcing appliances myself. Miele would have been out of my budget. The ovens you see are 1 Siemens self cleaning combination microwave/oven and 1 combination full steam/oven. I think some new models are out already and if they are out, it means you can get the older model for a cheaper price, which is great unless there is a must have function in the new model you can't do without and the current Siemens ovens do look good anyway. If you've already decided on the brand, design and the shop, you can still ask for a discount, in fact most of the independent shops I went to did offer some discount when I asked ( not much discount but better than nothing ). Yes, having an extension built ( approx. 5.5m x3m ) with pitched roof, 3 velux and sliding doors ( as in picture ), the shell has been built, steels in etc now waiting for 1st fix for electrician. Btw, I don't mean to be nosey into your kitchen design but do you really need 4 ovens? I know we always see them in glossy magazines/photos and it does look good, I also wanted 4 ovens too for the look but then decided it was pointless if I didn't need to use 4 ovens and you would save some money too. On your island ( if you have space ), you could consider an overhang of the worktop on the opposite side of the sink so people could sit there, as I've heard from people with islands that when guests come over, everyone hangs around the island and those that don't have an overhang wish they did. You can chat with your guests whilst cooking/ preparing. If you have older kids and want to get them involved, they can sit on that side and perhaps help prepare too :-). That's my vision for my kitchen anyway :-)....See Morepaint/plaster decorating help
Comments (1)The first photo looks like its missing architrave which would cover the edge, you can see the skirting board ends short like it should but up against something (Usually architrave if its a door) Second looks like it could be water/moisture from the sink or window causing it to peel, check the window isn't failing, you should be able to tell if its damp coming out if you leave a piece of cling film (or any plastic) on it over a day and night, if theres condensation under it in the morning its damp coming out....See MorePaint & Paper Library paint quality
Comments (3)I have used lots of paints and had a chat with the people at the Brewers near us recently as I'm helping a relative choose colours for a Georgian house overhaul. My own opinion on Paint and Paper library was already that the quality was amazing but the guy at Brewers confirmed it. He also confirmed that (sorry) but F&B is generally awful, watery thin and poor quality. Paint and Paper is easliy at the top of the pile when it comes to quality, Little Greene a possible second. I was tyring to find a really good neutral for my Auntie's House and Stone came out tops, not too yellow, not too green, a perfect neutral. The Stone 1 or 2 was good for woodwork the Stone 3 perfect for walls. I can't comment on the suitablitity for how practical it is, it possibly comes in a wipeable version....See MoreE D
