from shabby chic bedroom to eclecticly traditional

I like where the wardrobe is but I don't like the shabby chic look and would like to move towards an eclecticly traditional/transitional style, with a a colour palette with aqua/blush/cream/light grey/teal. instead of tye consol I need a chest. Any suggestions on wardrobe and chest of drawes?

I just came across your query and thought I'd add a note. I love that you're leaning towards a more eclectic style in here and think it will work really well - my personal style is modern & quirky eclectic!

It would be great to see any inspiration photo's you've got, and understand if you're looking to replace elements of furniture you have currently?

The beauty of eclectic design is that it is many styles put together :)

Hello Amy! Thank you so much for taking time to read my post and offer your advice. I think my style would be a base of what I learnt os called transitional with some eclectic touches. i like the boho-chic trend but don't see it squarely as working in this flat. Having said this, I am stumped: most pictures of bedrooms just focus on the bed/bedding/side table combo and there is much less including armoires (... or am I just looking in the wrong places???). I have been looking at a lot of shops online and found out I like the vibe of (some) Oliver Bonas and Graham and Greene for inspiration, and some sections in Maisons du Monde. But I haven't made any progress so far! As a professional, have you got any suggestions how to get unstuck? Best, Caterina

My first thought is that the bed looks a little close to the furniture across from the foot of it. I might try the bed on the window wall and instead of the piece on the wall that has the door, eliminate it and get two bedside table pieces with storage to accommodate whatever you were going to store in the piece across from the foot of the bed in your plan. I like beige and gray schemes in the bedroom too, and find some live green plants add a perfect spot of color, or perhaps a kind of acid green silk texture throw pillow. My suggestion is to browse Houzz photos and save the color schemes that you really love! Adding something sparkly will pep up a design that you think is too monochromatic as well - some silver or crystal bling? I added some bling-y chandeliers on either side of the bed in one of my bedrooms, which is fairly monochromatic in beige and gray tones. Some of the throw pillows also have a silvery touch in them.

I love little nooks like this! Why not get in touch with your local timber merchant and source some reclaimed wood to hang as shelves, one above the other. Find some eclectic accessories to dress the shelves and add character to your room. To fill the floor space why not put a dresser for your bits and bobs, socks, ties, jumpers, etc. That might help to free up storage space in the rest of your room. Some gunmetal coloured pendant lighting dropped from the ceiling will look really stylish if possible, otherwise your current spotlight will work just as well. You can then transfer the style to the rest of your room, I think it will suit your bedding and light wood floor really nicely. http://houzz.com/photos/192218 Good luck!

Thankyou! We are sleeping here first night tonight so need curtains up today!!! I hadn't planned on sleeping here yet but my hubby told our kids and now no going back!!!! It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!

@Emerald and Blush... I forgot to say that I am looking to replace the wardrobe and get a chest of drawers instead of the console. everything else (bedside tables, lamps, rugs, pictures and mirrors) will follow.....
