Should I replace the doors of the wardrobe by mirror sliding doors?
Comments (4)Hello. Congratulations on buying your apartment. You should think very carefully about what you do to your studio, since it is the space where you will live, breath and sleep. Before you make any specific decisions, put together a mood board so you can focus on the complete look. . Look at the colour and texture of the things you aren't going to change, like the sofa and, I guess, the floor? Then gather images of the things you want to change, and play around with colour, taking inspiration from your moodboard. This is fun, and will give you a good idea of how your room with feel and look. Good luck. Oh, and please be very wary of a bank of mirrored wardrobes - you will catch your reflection every time you make the slightest move in your space. Comments (3)Hi , easiest and most cost effective will be to simply remove existing doors and fit floor to ceiling sliding doors in front. Ideally remove whole of the front wall with the doors, leave interior only if you are happy with the layout. We can do supply only if you are far from us. Ideal solution would be to remove completely and replace with stunning bespoke new wardrobe....See MoreModernise built in wardrobe
Comments (4)What are the door made of? are they solid wood? Is that a veneer finish? I’d sand off the old finish, prime with Zinsser 1-2-3 and finish with 2 coats of Zinsser Perma-White. You can get the Perma-White mixed to different RAL colours online. Pop on some new handles and hey presto! Personally I’d get rid of drawers, keep the mirror and fit in a worktop off-cut in there with a nice chair and wall lamp or spots above the dressing table. You could further modernise the doors by mounting them so they fit flush. You’d have to change the hinges to those similar to kitchen cabinet hinges. What are your plans for the rest of the room?...See MoreWhat to do with ugly built in wardrobe
Comments (13)Invest in an random orbital sander and a whole bunch of sandpaper. Like Katie suggested you could change handles. I would get some sturdier shelving as the ones there appear to already be bowing - 18mm MDF or plywood would work well. Rip out the ugly carpet and get some stick on vinyl tiles or wood planks. Cheap and easy and will last as you won’t be walking on them. Doors seam fine enough, maybe replace the hinges if you can’t salvage the old ones. Then you could match hinge and handle colour. I would paint the entire outside of the wardrobe in a dark colour to hide any imperfections. Paint the interiors in a pale neutral colour or maybe even paper the inner walls....See MorePatrina
