What colour windows should I go for?
I'm looking to replace the windows and door. The door will follow a similar design to the one in the picture but I'll go for a colour i.e. green or grey/blue but I'm really torn as to what colour windows to go with. I really don't want to replace like for like as I find the rosewood quite dated. I don't think white would look nice so I'm thinking black....(not keen on grey). Anyone got any thoughts?

3 years agoMy sister changed hers to grey (anthracite?) and she has a honey yellow brick like yours and it looks good. A house opposite to Her has gone with sage green and that looks good too. Black looks very effective with industrial style buildings, but I wonder if it’s too near a shade to the rosewood? It does look amazing though! I’ve found a few pics on Pinterest for you. I must admit my favourite is the first green one 😊

I've got a black aga which I love the masculine look of and it creates a focal point but if you don't like yours then get rid, I don't think it's a prerequisite for a period home. Agree with Jonathan re working around the features. I've copied a link to a Georgian kitchen on houzz. Also have a look at images of DeVol kitchens, they are often in period homes and often use dark contemporary colours which bring a shaker kitchen right up to date. However having said that you can mix contemporary with period features. Comments (3)Is the tile on the right a deep green? I would look at something taupe (which means it has a red/violet bias) along the Iines of Skimming Stone or Elephants Breath (Farrow and Ball). These colours seem to complement deep greens whereas anything with a yellow tinge could look a bit sickly. Also worth looking at Little Greene Slate which comes in oil based paint. Comments (9)I have a flat which we rent out. It was all painted in Timeless. I found it cold and with a green tinge. The flat is now painted in dulux easycare in pure brilliant white. No cutting in at the walls and ceilings. It is very hard wearing and marks and scuffs wash off easily....See More
