Kitchen help - what can we do to make it look better?
Comments (65)Depending on how far you budget goes, I would look at adding traditional cornice and pelmet and replacing the plinth with a similar oyster colour. End panels for wall units could also be replaced / added. Some chessboard style tilling in 3 colours would also bring out the walls. It's hard to tell but is the oak surround also on the wall units? I haven't checked your location but this is something we can help with...See MoreHow can we give this pantry a make over
Comments (7)It has all the woodwork around it for a door, but the door is missing, which doesn't help with the odd look. It's ok to turn it into a shelf only area, but you really need to remove the woodwork, which is making it look like a cupboard missing a door. Alternatively, if you don't want the hassle of roughing up the plaster & having to repair it when you remove the architrave, then put a door back on it. Traditionally Pantry's are a little larger and are for storing tins and jars of food. Are you going to use it for that? Do you want that on show? You could have shelves with baskets / boxes to keep everything hidden and tidy. Another idea would be to take a portion of the left hand wall down, open up the space as per picture 3 below and make it a larger open Pantry / Shelf design. Decision is yours alone x...See Morehelp please....we are looking for bathroom flooring advice...
Comments (3)How about a pale concrete effect? https://m.vinylflooringuk.co.uk/1211-anti-slip-stone-effect-hometex-by-envy.html Perhaps a solid pale grey to go with the grout. Or dark if that's your style: https://m.vinylflooringuk.co.uk/camaro-loc-3453-black-shadow.html Dark wood effect: https://m.vinylflooringuk.co.uk/0562-anti-slip-wood-effect-felt-back-vinyl-flooring.html And if Marina's suggestion (which I find lovely) is too much of the same for you, a pattern could work: https://m.vinylflooringuk.co.uk/1600-stone-effect-vinyl-picasso-by-envy.html...See MoreAny ideas on how to make my porch look better please?
Comments (24)Ah thank you. I used dye from Dye Brick - https://www.dyebrick.com/ - for both the bricks and the mortar. They were super quick to deliver. My top tip would to be more patient than I was!! I should have spent more time finding which colour was best... and then sticking to it rather than changing my mind :) After a bit of testing I used a 50:50 mix of two of the colours available. And what I should have done is applied the soot wash mix (a separate product) afterwards... what I did do was mix them all together hence I just got a browner mix rather than the orange I wanted. Sometimes I can be a real idiot!! But I have a little dye left and having looked at bricks around the green door pic that Carolina has attached I may try and do a few more orange and some pure soot ones to get a bit more variety in colour rather than it being so uniform. Porch cost me about £80 to dye. Could possibly be done cheaper if you didnt need so many brick colours (Red, orange and soot) and didnt need to do the mortar too....See Moreneverforever
