Living room wall colour

What colour do you think we should paint our living room walls? The fireplace has grey/brown tiles (as picture), sofa is going to be a light stone/grey colour and the carpet is going to be a dark (ish) grey. Not sure whether to go light colour on the walls or darker?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Hi - I think the Dulux colour of 2021 would go nicely with the tones you have mentioned, it's called Brave Ground.

I always feel that a wood burning stove is a feature in itself, therefore putting wallpaper up might detract from the stove. It depends on the style you are going for, I would recommend simple, light colouring, maybe a pale fern green on that wall and alternative pale colours on the other, but it also depends on the furniture. Keep it simple and see how the light plays in the room over time, you will get an idea of where the sun hits etc and then you can go wild with your wallpaper if it can take it. Good luck

If you're going to go with an all white look I always recommend that clients consider using a 'silk' paint. They really bounce the light around, and don't become dusty and yellow/grey over time as matt emulsions usually do. As a side bonus they are wipeable, so no need to repaint an area if you make some marks - just wipe them away. Very practical. My clients who are listing their homes for sale often repaint to freshen up the place, and the winning combination of colours that sells homes seems to be: Base color: Pure Brilliant White - Silk | Accent Color (and hallways): Polished Pebble - Silk The combination is fresh & clean looking and goes with almost all decorative styles. :)

So you get sun for a good part of the day which means the room is quite bright. The black sofas are light sapping, so if you are keeping them you need the throws and cushions to help brighten them up. I rather like your dark wood furniture and they will be improved with plants to give a bit of a colonial or tropical vibe. You could wallpaper one wall in something a bit tropical to add lovely greens. Some are quite colourful so you can pick colours out for your accessories. In which case a nice soft white on the rest of the walls would look great. The wall behind the tv and table looks like a good wall to wallpaper. You can’t deny it gives you plenty of colour!

Are you wanting to keep the wooden surround dark? I’m thinking a soft green would look nice. Something like F&B Mizzle or Dulux Tranquil Dawn which is very similar. Or if you’re very brave, what about Green Smoke? Here they are

Hello! If you have a lot of greys I think it could be nice to introduce a darker grey on the wall to add more depth. It works well with the brown as well..
