Debris from chimney after Woodburn installed

I've recently purchased a house which has a multifuel stove installed (installed around 5 years ago). I have been assured that the chimney was thoroughly swept before stove, lining etc was installed. However, the top plate was covered in debris. We filled half a black sack with soot etc. Is this normal? More importantly is it safe to use my stove?
I had the chimney swept again last night, but obviously this is just within the new linings of the stove. There is now a load more debris sat on the top plate, guessing due to the vibrations of last night's cleaning. Advice very welcome, have only ever had electric fires before.
My chimney sweep didn't say much about it, but my concern is that that's because he apparently did the sweep before his brother installed the stove.

I think you would have to build a proper masonry chimney on top of the roofline. The flue could pop up through the chimney. The tiles could then be cut back around the chimney and weather proofed with lead flashing as standard. The tricky bit would be the support of the chimney which could be done with extra roof timbers. If you have a flat ceiling you could hide the structural support in the roof void. However, if you have a sloping ceiling it will be more difficult as you will need to hide the structural support, it should still be achievable though. If you decide to do this you should make sure it's all well planned out first. I also think it will be quite expensive to do. Good luck!

Of course. The dimensions would depend on the size of the fireplace/burner you would be going for. The opening would have to be made of non-flammable material, such as brick, stone, metal, porcelain tiles, Vermiculite Board, etc. You could use non-flammable paint over that. For example, our freestanding baskets like the one Richard posted above need 60 cm clearance from the bottom to the top; or if you wanted a contemporary line of fire look you could go for our Regulating Bio Containers like the one in the photo below - all required dimensions are available in the brochure with building advice on our website. Have you a fire thermometer and are you monitoring the temperature of your fire? It would appear that excessive heat may be your issue. It would be worth contacting the manufacturer directly and asking for their advice. Other information to have ready for the company is the size of logs you are adding ( too large and the plates get excessive heat from the large fire) and the dryness of your fire at the start of log burning season as a damp fire from moisture down the chimney can cause cracking if heated very quickly.
