Bathroom layout feedback please

Looking for some feedback on the design proposed for our bathroom and some of the of the changes i'm thinking of making.

Thinking we’ll change it so just behind the bath and inside the shower is tiled and other walls painted. or maybe the boxing in should be tiled too?

Changing flooring to LVT oak.

Note: The tall unit will actually just be a unit built into a false wall either in the position shown or switched to by the door.

Undecided what to do on the wall above the wc, basin and bath. Options we're thinking are: -

Full mirror above the sink basin and bath (as shown)

Mirrored cabinets above wc and sink

Long narrow mirror above with cabinets above.

We're aiming for a contemporary, fresh feel.

we like the ideas below but not sure how to create the feel myself.

could you switch the bath and shower round? not a huge deal if you can't...I'm just thinking that opening a door and have a glass shower screen right next to you could make the room feel small? whereas a bath sat there could create a more open feel?
I personally would say keep it all tiled- paint can often peel in a bathroom so it's easier to keep it tiled
and I would say just have one big mirror above the toilet and sink because that's going to give the room that seamless contemporary feel which you are after

Thank you, we can’t move the shower to where the bath is because of the low window but we could maybe push the shower along and put the tall cupboard by the door instead. Good point I’ll see if we can do that.

Ok, it's been a while and we've reduced the width of the window but I think this is the layout we're going to go with. There will be a 200mm bulk-head along the exterior wall to hide all pipes etc... which will also create a long shelf and enough room for a recessed shelf in the shower. The shower will have a single non-moving glass screen which we walk around to get into. One of the red matts is at the entrance to the shower. any feedback/criticism welcome.

I think as long as the wc boxing is the same height as the hall height tiles it will all blend and look quite clean. found this pic on pinterest, I know it’s full height tiles and all same tiles but might help visualise how the boxing will look next to shower there’s a free 3d design app i used when doing my bathroom called visoft smart, you can put in all different boxings and different sections of tiles etc, would highly recommend if you’re handy with design programmes, if not let me know and if i get time this evening or over the weekend i’ll do a quick mock-up of your shower/toilet area for you

Hi S C, We'd really need a bit more info on window sizes (width & height), placement (including distance from floor) and position & size of doors as well as whether it is hung on the RHS, LHS and opening inwards or outwards to be of any real help to you!

What an amazing bathroom! I'd suggest using a 90cm wide shower (and perhaps 90 deep and/or quadrant/corner, because of wet feet when stepping out in front of doorway), as there's 10cm on the side for the toilet drain (and some hacking into the chimney plaster to get to 110mm pipe +surround*). Then 80cm width for the toilet. Which leaves 100cm for a vanity. *) and if you can find some of these architraves+alike, you could widen the chimney breast so the 10cm won't look lost. The positive with a faux low wall (for toilet cistern) behind the vanity, is that any dresser can be turned into vanity without losing too much drawer space, as the drain+gooseneck can go behind instead of through. And a cabinet over the bath would not be ideal, just use the vanity drawers and for the smaller things hang some sleek looking mirrored medicine cabinets. Perhaps a towel rack above the bench. Or replace the bench for a storage bench or chest.

I have a window in my shower area in one of my bathrooms? and it seems to work ok

My suggestion would be to free up some floor space by building storage behind the mirror so you could do away with the cupboard. That might enable you to move the towel rail so that the door doesn't crash into it. To me putting the shower just inside the door with a minimal screen and no tray means everything around it will probably get wet, including the floor just inside the door.
