I used this lino in my utility which was really good value and quick to install.

You can lay vinyl directly over the tile BUT as your grouting is quite wide I'd add an underlay first - just be sure to get a water resistant one.

Or something to pick out the pattern in the border tiles - sorry I can't quite work out what it is.

HI Ellie, it looks a nice room, doesn’t need much. They have some nice floors on the link below. Just ask about fitting though, I had a quote for LVT a few years ago and have a claw foot bath, round foot console etc and I wasn’t totally convinced by the fitter (nor was he) as to how good the cuts would be and he was a gold standard Karndean fitter. Although to be fair I don’t know if the rating is based on fitting expertise or the amount of work!

if you go for a neutral floor maybe consider painting the bath?

id probably just go for shutter blinds (blinds2go which are waterproof) but botanical ones would look nice for pattern and colour.

maybe add some form of woven basket for warmth by the towel rail (you can add loo rolls and it would hide the soil pipe)

I would also go with a vinyl - either sheet of or the lvt. Patterned/geometric would look fab! Love the diamond one claybrick home has or you could go more floral victorian.

Could potentially remove the border tiles and replace with herringbone mosaics or even use a tile paint to paint them black?? 😥

I considered painting the border black with tile paint too..... however there is a shower in the room too and it also has the tile in it......... does tile paint work in shower areas?

id say that your wall tiles are worse than the floor tiles...if you changed those it might make the floor look better

or like Tani says painting the floor wld work and then painting those Grey wall tiles to match could improve the whole room... probably the cheapest option as well as quickest

I haven’t but would be worried about using in a shower tbh. I really don’t think the tiles are that bad as they go with the style of the bathroom. I would just paint out those random ones personally. As you probably know I can’t photoshop so you have a giant belly basket so as to hide a chair that was in the flooring shot and a hanging plant as I couldn’t cover those random tiles 😂

Thanks Minnie for the inspiration! That's the type of flooring I had in mind. I don't think the border is too bad either, but I could paint them plain grey or black, maybe the randoms too. Suppose I could just hang some plants in front of those tiles too!

Another triumph from Minnie! That is such a nice bathroom and it won’t need much to bring it up to date. Would you consider dark green walls on the non tiled bit? I have sheet vinyl in my bathroom and it’s about 6 years old and still looks tidy. It also has a non slip, slightly gritty feel to it which is great. I would love a
Victorian style patterned floor but I can’t justify it as there’s nothing wrong with the current floor - damn!

As you already identified, yep - it's the floor which is pulling this room down. The feature tiles, although they aren't up to date, are actually not that dating and will look good for a long while yet! So yes to any suggestions to change the floor away from the heavy black! The rest is in the accessories - much easier to realise than structural and tiling changes.

Patterned or geometric tiles or laminate/vinyl would look lovely.
