Need your ideas on worktop colour!
Good afternoon fellow Houzzers,
So we moved into this house 2 years ago and this is the end of the hallway which we use as the laundry and washing area.
What we still need is a worktop above the washing machine and dryer for folding and ironing etc.
The units are high gloss cream and the flooring is oak brown (see image below).
The question is what colour worktop will work with both the units and flooring. Marble effect or white or might clash with the cream units and brown could be too dark or clash with the floor.
Also, what do you think about a beck splash should we bother? if yes, any suggestions? (tiles, wallpaper).
Any tips/help/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated!

3 years agoYou can get proper formica which is bonded onto birch ply. It's really practical and comes in lots of colours. I have it in my utility room. Orange would look great with your floor.

Comments (10)Yes Compac offer Glace (matte), Polished, Concrete (Matte & slightly textured but only available in the Concrete collection), Ovo (Honed) & Pergamo (Brush & Hammered). The Ovo and Pergamo are special order and aren't available on all colours so this is something you would have to check if you see a colour you like. Caesarstone have 3 finish choices: Polished, Honed (Matte) and Viento (textured). Again you would have to check the chosen colour with Caesarstone to see if its available in the finish you like. Comments (1)Your choice of kitchen looks great. I like the worktop you've chosen but think that a whitish worktop would contrast nicely on the grey but also match the colour of the wall cabinets. There are plenty of whites with a bit of sparkle which would go nicely. Comments (14)Hi, I would definitely consider repainting the doors (especially if it works out cheaper) and would consider a dark grey with blue undertone to co-ordinate with your tiles whilst cutting between the wood / wood sort colours and shades. I would also change the door handles if you then would like to go for a wood worktop, I don't think It would look over the top. Alternativly, if you feel that you dont want a high maintenance worktop, I would look at the wood effect laminate worktops, they do vary in quality depending on where you buy but many nowadays are made to be tough and durable and require no additional maintenance except the usual cleans to maintain hygiene.
