Paint color for kitchen

In the spirit of going bold, I wanted to paint the walls of my kitchen with the color that would go with tiled backsplash I have chosen. Everyone keeps telling me to keep it white and I wanted to try with the idea that if it makes me nauseous, I can repaint to white.
The photos below show the space and the potential colors.
What do you think?

Comments (18)We have used many colour ideas but this year used Farrow and Ball "All White" which at first glance looks like standard white paint but in fact it has a deeper warmth and tones well with other colours. Our kitchen has various grey shades but another brave idea is to use Aubergine shades...the rich warmth works perfectly with grey and would make your kitchen units really stand out. It needs to be more toward the plum shades rather than purple but the only concern is you mention the room links to another with Teal in it so you need to have the colours together in varying light to see if the idea could work. Comments (22)I prefer the warmer tones too. Have you painted bigger samples? I'd try 2-3 coats on a3 and try them in different places in the room to see how they change in different lights. I think JW can have a slight pink undertone and it looks onscreen as if the rum does too. A white textured splashback would be good to "sandwich" the floor and units, would just make sure the shade matches the worktop. Another idea is a marble of sorts which would go well with the concrete. Comments (13)Hi Tricia. I agree with the other comments that painting kitchen cabinets is a lot of work and I don’t think you would be better pleased with the end result. Some cabinets can take painting better than others. For a different idea you could extend the wall cabinets almost up to the ceiling by either finding extra wall units or if you’re handy with diy creating them yourself. Then replace doors with some mdf panels which you can then prime/paint yourself (see pics below for the kinda thing I was thinking of). Mdf doesn’t cost all that much but if you’re not confident with cutting or drilling hinge holes then a local joiner could do this for you. Wouldn’t normally recommend painting tiles but if it’s just short term then it’s maybe worth a try. I wouldnt use any wood panels behind a gas hob tho, might be a fire risk....See Morepaint colour for kitchen.
Comments (6)I agree it’s best to get the kitchen, tiling and flooring in and then look at paint colours. I must say Tranquil Dawn is a beautiful soft sage green, so would probably looking really good! 😊...See More- 5 years ago
