Party wall dilemma

My neighbour and I share a boundary wall where our garages meet. We are planning a garage conversion whetlre the height will need to be raised to match the interior. At the top of our parapet wall we had planned for coping stones. Unfortunately our party wall surveyor have said that the coping stones are unable to criss the boundary line albeit minimally. We are now left with a step in our extension which would look odd from the front view. Any suggestions as to how we can get around this?
