Paddock entrance ideas

Hi all. Our new house has a paddock but we aren't using it for livestock. We are currently using it for the kids to play in, rope swings etc... But I'd like to make it more visually appealing. We have taken down an old rickey fence which separated it from the rest of the property and it has now opened it up but I was thinking maybe between the two trees it might be nice to have steps and gravel. The rest of the area leading to it is a mess as it was an old builders yard with workshop to the left. So whatever I do it will just be for the area immediately in front of the Paddock and leading into it. The rest will have to wait as its such a big area and will take a lot of work to do something with. Any thoughts?

thanks for the comments...hadn't considered a glazed type door, will have a look at some options....in answer to your questions, it will be a modern extension, flooring we are unsure if it will match...think kitchen flooring will be different....my main concern is we get this lovely extension and the small entrance spoils it. We've been so concerned with the kitchen hadn't even thought about the doorway till now....

What a great space, love the Crittal doors. I’d definitely go light, white ceiling and walls with brilliant white gloss skirting to show off the flooring. On the “mirror” wall I’d put wall paper to add interest and bring in the dark blue of the neighbouring kitchen. There are so many patterns to choose from. The space has a modern feel with a nod to previous eras with parquet type floor and black glazing so I’d look at the William Morris design range of Wallpapers - old traditional style with amazing patterns and colours relevant to today. good luck

Hi Kathy, I actually think you've got the potential to have a cute lil nook of an entrance. Of course changing the front door will help dramatically, think about having a pale blue door or other colour to make it lighter and more inviting. I'd change the wall light to a cooler lighter that doesn't create the yellow wash. Also, is that a hand-rail next to the stairs? I'd remove this as it gives the feel of the 'old peoples' home. You could then place some taller plants (possibly ferns) by the stairs to create more of an entrance way. If you're feeling a little magical, why not add some net fairy lights under the canopy (check they're suitable for outdoor use).
