Internal door replacement as too much pine.

In the 90s we replaced our skirting boards, architrave and internal doors with natural pine to avoid the hassle of glossing. Whilst I like the warm tones of the pine, I now feel overwhelmed with it all and am looking to change all internal doors. But what would work with the existing pine skirting & architrave without the need for painting?

FYI: Our colour scheme throughout is cream/pale gold with splashes of colour in each room (e.g. bed linen/curtains and a red sofa/armchairs in the lounge). First pic is lounge, 2nd is upstairs 2 bedrooms and airing cupboard as couldn't fit the 3rd bedroom door nor bathroom door.

Could you just gloss them white so they suit any colour in any room

I agree with Daisy. All my doors are white Satinwood, except for one, as are all the architrave and skirting. It sits well with all my decor, I feel.

Even though I am a fan of oak doors and I like how they look in most cases, in this case, it would be a bit excessive. They would not match the general atmosphere in the house that is so light and even a little Victorian. You may try and install some small 1930s internal doors made of oak and see for yourself. It might work if you choose the correct color. I would paint it too creamy white, so it does not stand out much. It’s up to you, and you must decide what you like the most. You can find many pictures on the Internet and apply them to your house to see what it will look like.

That door featured in the above image is an LPD Door. They are a main UK distribtor and Wayfair just buy from them. We as a company supplied one only last week for a customer. You could look at full glass or half glass. Look at LPD Door website and also J B Kind for ideas. None of them will supply you direct as they only deal with trade but both of their doors are available online through other suppliers. By looking online you will be able to get the name of the door. They also offer a critall look alike door but there was a very long waiting time for this. Just be aware that such a lot of doors are out of stock and if you buy from another company as opposed to the main ones they will not display the amount in stock so be cautious about parting with your money until you know it is a stock item.

I used Crown aged white eggshell to paint all my pine doors. Goes with everything!

Keep the pine trim and paint the doors white. Make sure to prep them well.

We painted our pine doors white and changed brass handles to chrome - it made a huge difference. As Rinked mentioned preparation is key - a light sanding, masking tape to anything you don't want painted and a primer. We also used a water based paint in an eggshell finish - it goes on a lot easier than an oil based paint.

Thanks for the responses, but I don't want to paint the doors - I want to change (replace) them. They're warped and don't close properly (despite how they look in the pics).

Well primed new doors it is then! Satin gloss or matte finish. Either smooth ones or panel. The sky is the limit!
