Could I set back my cooker into the chimney breast?
Comments (2)Oh dear ! That's a bit of a mistake to put an appliance next to one of those types of corners - but to do it twice is a disaster !! A simple solution, might be to move the right cupboard into the place where bins are and put open shelving either side of the cooker - as then the door will be able to open father back in one side - it wouldn't work with just moving the end cabinet to there as the drawer handle would still clash- even if you changed the door handing to move the lower handle out of the way - simple shelves you can buy from somewhere like ikea or a local kitchen shop ?! and the door should open back further - different hinges might help too (not sure which they have put on ? ) Then re use the stone top either side of the cooker and buy a new deeper top ( chopping block might be nice ) over the recessed bit do you have a deep worktop with the cupboard still in line and space for a bin next to it ?!...See MoreHow do I make my Chimney breast look better?!
Comments (7)I don't know if you've done this already but make sure the mortar is an appropriate colour for the period. I made this mistake and was told the modern grey would fade but it hasn't....See MoreHELP bring my chimney breast back to life
Comments (6)To be honest if it was me and I was going to paint the brick then I would go and paint it so that it is obviously painted rather than trying to recreate the red brick look with paint. I think it will just look fake whereas if you were to paint it white it would compliment your walls nicely and you would still get to keep the texture of the brick without trying to make it look like something it's not if that makes sense. There are great tutorials online from bloggers who have done it if you are interested in seeing how the finished result would look. You could full on paint it white or whitewash it for a more watered down paler look. Good luck with your project :)...See MoreI would love to paint chimney breast wall and 2 alcoves same colour
Comments (7)Remember to look at the aspect of the room, before going for a strong teal colour. It’s extraordinary how different the colours look, depending on whether the room faces north, south, east, or west. And don’t forget nighttime with electric lighting. Also, if your sofa is a deep teal, you could choose a much paler aqua/greeny blue, for your feature walls, and the other walls maybe an even paler shade than those, if your room is light. On the other hand, if the room is a bit gloomy, you could use a contrasting and complementary colour for the feature walls, such as a deep gold, a warm peach, or apricot, or even a warm soft pink (similar, maybe, to F&B’s Setting Plaster or Pink Ground). Depends upon what colours you actually like, as you have to live with it. Teal is basically a blue green, so if not using teal and its paler tones for walls, look for colours that are warm, on the opposite side of the colour wheel....See MoreMr Grandanat
