Help with layout of new build living room
Comments (7)If you're keeping the existing layout I would maybe try something like the attached. In the snug which I would style more formally, I think you need a feature, so would insert a cast iron surround with electric Fire. Antiqued glass either side of the fire floor to ceiling to maximise light. A couple of small cabinets in front of the glass with lamps on. Then the moons are meant to be chairs with a small table in between! I'd have a console with urns etc behind the sofa to create a divide with the tv area. You'd need to make sure the door opened out though. The area is quite big so I'd go for an 8 seater table. The pic is only vaguely to scale! It is also quite tempting to have a hanging woodburner or something but not sure of budget...See MoreNeed help with decorating my living room
Comments (2)HI Mystique. Maybe you could add a line of logs in the lower shelf - stacked up to fill most of the space. On top shelf maybe some tall books (like coffee table books) and have a tall vase/ ornament that you like (coloured to stand out) beside them. Perhaps you could add one division such as pic below. I could also see a lintel extend across fire place and all the way across about 6" above the fire place (nice wooden texture) and decorate that....See MoreHelp with living room decor please :)
Comments (8)All it really needs is something on the walls (love the arch mirror by the way). I love the decor colour you have chosen - it just needs a lift. So symmetrical mirrors would work, but maybe in a darker colour? Artwork is always good, whether a canvas, photos or prints. One large canvas or a gallery wall of photos over the sideboard would look good. You have a mustard yellow throw, so how about using that colour more in the room, say with cushions and artwork? Lots of colours go with that warm grey and I also think black can lift it like your lamp and console table. I agree that the tv is too high (neck ache!) but I also understand the wiring is probably chiselled into the wall, so ripping the stone tiles is probably not an option! I don’t think it will take much to jazz up this lovely room....See MoreHelp re decorate small living room
Comments (1)Looks like a lovely place. I don't see much wrong with it. The sofa is a little stark looking but I’m sure if you get some scatter cushions this would soften the white. Others here are better with that sort of advice but if you can coordinate them with your textile wall hanging I think it will do the trick. The art on the walls looks good but I would align the painting over the TV differently and lower the clock by about 50 cm....See Moreminnie101
