If you mean wall tiles then many people do not have them now. Most just have an upstand and a splashback behind the hob.

I think white tiles, but laid in an interesting way, such as stacked, would look nice and won’t clash with the units. Hexagonal tiles are lovely too.

No tiles, just a wipeable paint!

We have a dark counter and light cabinets. We haven’t got tiles just the counter up a little and the a stainless steel piece on the back of the cooker, the only area that’s a problem is the sink I wish we would have gone up to the window sill but it’s nothing a little wipe doesn’t fix if you have the right paint 😊

Tiles are very tricky. I generally go with the Ferreiras as they have various effects and some seriously brilliant designs in porcelain tiles and slabs. With light grey cabinets, go with dark tiles like that of Nero Marquina. Check out the pictures and details regarding the tiles.
