Under stairs toilet
Comments (6)Thanks for your help here! I have considered that, bit worried about water splashing over the toilet seat though. Hopefully have enough space to have a separate basin. If it costs £3000 to move the meters then it might not be viable anyway!...See MoreUnder stairs drawer/shelves
Comments (61)Funnily enough I was just thinking about kitchen artwork. My sis got custody of decorating with big Banksys so I'm not allowed any of that ;-) I do like this artist https://www.google.com/search?q=Georgia+Cox+artist&client=ms-android-vf-gb-revc&prmd=isnv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiY_-zgvsriAhUoRBUIHaHeCoEQ_AUoAXoECA8QAQ&biw=360&bih=657 But originals might be a bit much for the kitchen (and my budget!)...See Morebugbear under stairs support post
Comments (7)Katherine Hello The diagonal stringer supports the stair itself and it looks like there may be a small timber edge trimming beam at the top running along the edge. I don't think the posts are structural but do ask a structural engineer to confirm. The other thing you can check is which way the joists run in the floor at the top of the stair. In an old house the boards run in the opposite direction to the supporting timber joists, so if you lift the carpet you can tell which way the joists run. If the joists run parallel to the stair the load is not being taken by the stair opening in the floor. If they run perpendicular they may be bearing on the trimming beam and the posts could be structural, even though they don't look it. Ask a skilled builder or and engineer to take a look....See MoreUnder stairs cupboard and appliances
Comments (7)I already have my appliances the dryer isn't even six month old and a washer dyer is no good as the time they take to get one load done is too long. We have 3 kids 2 of which are disabled so lots of of washing. Plus the dryer can not go into the kitchen as it's tiny and the washing machine is under the counter. The only option if have in the kitchen is to stack the dryer above the dishwasher so not sure that's an option. I meant i planned on housing the dryer above the freezer. The cupboard has ample space in it but it's oy a single door so to put both on the floor would mean not being able to access one appliance. I can't afford a carpenter to come out and do the work as they'll charge me hundreds and again I don't work as I have disabled kids. I am confident in my diy skills. But I didn't know if with the walls being breeze block if putting supports on the wall to hold a piece of counter top alongside two legs was an easy job or if buying a large kitchen base unit to go into the cupboard would be easier as I can't make any permanent structure changes anything I do has to be able to be taken down when I leave the property, not that I'm intending to but.. In the middle of decorating so at the moment the cupboard is being used as random storage. The cupboard is only under the bottom half of the stairs so we can't put a full cupboard with the appliances and storage. The space is free all the way to the bottom of the stairs but you wouldn't be able to put them side by side. First pic is from the hallway it's in there's room above the top of the door inside the cupboard but it's a solid slope ceiling. I'd originally thought about vetting something like the last pic but I can't find one that isn't a few hundred....See MoreOrganise Space
