Soil pipe - exciting topic!

last modified: 4 years ago

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a single storey extension. As you can see on my current floor plan, there is a soil pipe (coming from the bathroom upstairs) that comes down in to the ground floor. It's located on the back of the original wall of the house and then there's a 1980s extension beyond.

My plan is to convert the current kitchen (the section where the window on the side is) in to the utility room. There will be a loo, sink and w/machine in the utility. Then, there will be an open plan kitchen/diner extending towards the garden.

The issue is the soil pipe runs straight down the end of that supporting wall in a large box (larger than shown). Can it be moved at all? If it stays there, it'll be encroaching on to the open plan space and will interfere with the end of that wall and where I plan to have the end of the island.

Thanks for any ideas offered!
