Hi, Thanks so much! The paint colour was Aalto Paints 'Powdered Wig' and the cabinets were tinted to match.

hi all, sorry i've been offline for a while. well the cabinets are (mostly!) in. the tiles have arrived. They're from here http://best-tile.co.uk/ I LOVE them! I've been planning moroccan tiles in my home since i first went there about 10 years ago! just a few more bits to finish off before finally deciding a colour scheme. I'll try to add a photo later, i'm a bit busy finishing off my dissertation this month so the kitchen is taking a back seat. Cinderellaslipper i like what youa re saying - it makes sense. i'm not sure if i should take the tiles to be colour matched or try matching to the samples in the shop. the budget is non-existant so i don't want to end up spending loads on sample pots.

Cashmere popular. Mine being fitted this week. I have chosen real wood worktop and upstand. Plain Glass splashback behind hob and oxide emerald green floor tiles. Just for something different. Walks mmm not sure……something muted. Small kitchen but bright! Ideas… don’t hate me re floor 😳

Dark grey kitchen/living room - wall paint colour?

I have a small open plan kitchen/living room that I'm struggling to settle on a paint colour for. The cabinets take up most of the wall space in the kitchen area and are a dark, reflective grey with a minimalist design (similar to: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d0/4d/69/d04d69bab448e2a5d141e63c1bd8b0f2.jpg) The countertops are a white granite speckled with grey and black. My key colour is orange which I have for some appliances and small things. I've put up a backsplash of simple white tiles that covers the walls about a foot above the countertops. The living room furniture is a mix of dark grey/black fabrics and metal work with mid-tone natural wood (similar to the first on the left here: http://floorsandldn.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Swatch1.jpg). The flooring throughout is in the same tone of wood. I would like to be bold and go with a dark grey (e.g. Ink from Neptune https://www.neptune.com/interior-decor/paint/ink-paint/) on the walls, but I'm having trouble finding a tone that will work with the cabinets, which change so much depend on what light they're reflecting. This is making me think I should instead go for a mid- or light grey, but I don't want to tone it down so much that it loses the impact and ends up not working! I'm keeping the ceiling and skirting boards white and using a lot of light/white cushions and throws to stop it becoming too dark. Any help much appreciated as it's been far too long I've been dithering over this!

You are more than welcome Teresa, glad I can help. I can now completely understand why changing the panels would be a real hassle - it would essentially be taking the kitchen apart and reinstalling. As the panels are Wenge effect then painting will not be an issue at all. Just make sure you give them a good clean and wipe over with sugar soap before applying any primer/light sanding. If you are struggling to get a good colour match to the doors - it might be worth hunting down a company that specialises in paint colour matching. Explain to them that you are looking to paint end panels I'm assuming they are laminated/MFC and they should be able to guide you on what base would be best as well as the prep work involved to make sure the panels are as hardwearing as they can be. I think a pop of pink would be fabulous! That's the beauty of making the kitchen your own and adding colour with accessories - you can have what you love and if you change your mind years down the line you won't have to redo the whole kitchen. What sort of pink are you thinking? Do you have any artwork in the kitchen that has a small amount of pink that you could tie in? With the colour palette you have any kind of pink would work well in there, from a nice dusty rose, blush pink to a hot pink (if you are daring enough).
