Furniture Advice

Hi

need advice as to what shops can i visit to take a look at furniture, i am not looking for something like argos but something mid range to little bit high end. Please advice any shops in and around london area. I live around Harrow, wembley area.

Hi minnie101. Thank you. No they don't need a rising chair. It's just I don't think they ever had one so would like it in the new home. Chair lifts are not possible either as they won't like that and currently the mobility is not that bad. The sofa bed is for the occasional night which will be more frequent than the use it gets when people have guests over. I did look at the scandi chair and liked the look but it's not what they want unfortunately. Thank you though. I'll have to just try and find some sets that will work together. Sofa beds are hard to find as most have a very thin 6mm mattress. There is the Mayne corner sofa from made.com which has a good bed but it doesn't look so great esp in the customer pics on their website. Has anyone had experience of this sofa? Thanks

I agree with both Daisy and Carolina comments. Two sofas “tend” to be more flexible and also give a more formal look. Corner or L sofas don’t always work as well when entertaining either as it’s quite difficult to chat when most of you are in a row. Is a tv also a consideration? Is the room a little dark or is the photo dark as you didn’t have light behind you? If it’s dark I might be tempted to lighten/brighten the sofas with cushions and a throw, however having just bought a sofa bed in a similar style to the navy one you’ve pictured I must admit I prefer it with just the bolster cushions so that may be a consideration. I love antique furniture as I believe it’s made from better materials, have history attached to it etc. However, I struggle while deciding if some pieces were replicas, or not. The easiest possible way I decided on for myself was finding a local antique shop with the online presence. They were likely to know more about the furniture, being able to sympathetically restore and clean it in advance etc. Price-wise it made sense as well. My latest addition was a 1940s mahogany music turn table I am using as a GDPR-compliant filing cabinet, as the doors have a lock with a key. Good luck with your hunt!

Hi Lorraine. lovely big rooms I think an equal length corner unit should fit centrally under the double windows and in front of the hall door and an armchair or small love seat by the side window. The tv sited nearer to the side window rather than central perhaps. Lamps, maybe, could go on a sideboard or console across the back of the sofa in front of the entrance hall door as there won‘t be room for a side table by the pocket doors. The entrance door would work better hinged the other way and a floor switch if you go with this plan but it sounds like it might be too late to change light switches etc. Hope this helps, I have drawn a plan but I don’t seem to have much luck uploading at the weekend!!
