Kitchen Knock Through?

Does anyone have any pictures of their kitchen knock through with an opening of around 3m? Thanks.

Here’s ours. The kitchen end is 3.15m wide and the family room side is a bit bigger at 3.5m wide.
We took the wall out around 7 years ago- wish we’d done it sooner. L

Hi LTS. It's hard to say how much it was just to knock the wall out, as it was done along with fitting the kitchen and some other works by the same contractor (inc. plastering, lighting, fitting radiators etc.). I will say it cost me £2000 for everything they did, and they did use steel! £4000 is definitely too much, as it is a relatively easy job. I would expect to build an extension for that amount, lol! What dimensions did you need?The hole in the wall is less than 2 metres wide. Thanks x

Part 1: When we bought our house in 2012 we dreamt of knocking down the wall between the existing kitchen & dining room to create a modern living area that is still practical. We have just completed the project which included knocking down the wall, blocking in the back door & door from kitchen to garage/utility plus making a new door through to garage/utility using a cupboard in our hall - we are delighted with the results -what do you think? We've yet to get a splashback, blinds & are awaiting a nice glass door.

Thank you! Our original idea was to put a wall up separating lounge and dining area but cost wise it’ll be too much. We’re thinking of only bringing down the back end of the wall between garden room and kitchen area to open it up and leave the existing wall between kitchen/ dining area although move the layout around somehow. Kitchen would also stay as it is. Thanks for the design

Could this work? you could have a pantry cupboard instead and a pennisula island perhaps. l’ve changed your current kitchen window to a door and closed off access to the hall and put all the noisy appliances in the new front utility room with a big sink, fridge freezer, washing/drying appliances etc and a pantry cupboard. you could have a stable door into the kitchen from the utility for light and keeping the dog away when cooking…. I’ve reduced the french doors of the dining room for flow, opening into the hall rather than into the room. I've placed upright radiators on the available walls, you could put another at the top of the table.

Ispendl 828 - do you just have the one radiator heating the room?

We are about to open our kitchen up and with our plans will lose the existing radiator from the kitchen. Our builder says one large radiator in the existing dining room will heat the entire 6x3m space but I'm not sure ὢC. He has suggested the option of a kick floor heater as an additional heat source if required.

We've got a vertical radiator on one side (the black one you can see in the first pic) and a plinth heater, connected to the central heating, in the kitchen - sounds like your builder is suggesting the same thing.

This is a picture of a kitchen knock through we did which was roughly 3.5m. Fitted with electric underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.
