Renovating Window Frames

Purchased a house recently. It needs a bit of a TLC. This is my first time; so looking for general advice. The house has aluminium double glazing. Although the windows are in good nick, the wooden frames are worn out. Spoke to some builders who advised I will need to replace the double glazing if I want to replace the frames. Looking for guidance and solutions. Pictures attached below.

Replacing the whole window, frame and cill would be the easiest solution.

The frames look pretty bad. I think replacing all of the windows as Sarah suggests is essential. New windows have good insulation and you will feel a huge improvement.

Not really, I don't want white. Other non standard RAL choices would add £££ to an already expensive quote, black and anthracite are the same price from our supplier.

Sorry i can’t help with recommendations in your area but if your project is due to start at the end of July I doubt you will get the windows in time. There is a big shortage of glass at the moment and the waiting time in our area is one month from all major glass suppliers. I wouldn’t waste any time finding someone. Good luck

large windows - thin frames with smaller windows to match

Our loft company came up with this design. Despite being aluminium, the frames take up a lot of the nice view. Cost £2250. Suggested making the central panel twice as wide and the two side windows smaller (narrower and less long). Does anyone have any bright ideas as to how to make this feature thin framed aluminium window more appealing?

Most times this is done by taking the floor almost to the windows and leaving a small gap (maybe a couple of inches or the full depth of the window) with a banister or toughened glass cover. This then doesn't impact the exterior much. But if the windows were bricked up, and you are going to have to have new frames then you could have them designed to detail the floor into them.

Have a brows on YouTube re doing projects yourself, access recycling websites that may have some end of stock windows that may fit as this looks like a side window it won’t need to match the front .. if you can get a window at reduced price and feel replacing is outside your remit, having a glazier refit new window should be far more cost effective.. good luck whatever you do and congratulations 👏🏽 on our new home, I am questing you will be having some exciting times and fun projects to plan

Thanks everyone for Reponses. Feedback is much appreciated. Going to have a browse now, and see what's available. Got a glazing company to come and give a quote.
