Hi everyone, im looking for some help please on a kitchen layout.

maximum storage needed and if possible an island or some kind of seating for a min of 3 seating spaces.

You need to offer more information - what appliances are going in there?

What sort of worktop? quartz, laminate, solid surface etc

Integrated fridge and freezer or American style. Double or single integrated oven?

Is the washer and dryer to go in this space?

Hi daisy, we haven't decided on worktops just yet as it's quite early in the design phase.

In regards to appliances, a built in full length fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer will be integrated. Ideally looking at an induction hob and a built in eye level oven, really appreciate your response x

The room is an odd shape and I think you will benefit from professional advice. However I think before you seek that advice, you need to have a good think about the way you use your kitchen now (prep, cooking, serving, washing up, putting away, storage etc). What things do you need close at hand during each one of these tasks? What things do you like about the way your current kitchen works and what things annoy you? Search for kitchen planning articles on Houzz which will help with the sort of things you need to consider. Then when you speak to your kitchen designer you will have a clearer idea of what will work for you, after all the kitchen has to be a functional space, and they will be more likely to help you get what you want.

Thank you for the answers. What is the length of the wall separating the kitchen and the hall? She could possibly put the fridge next (under) to your current X and put some over the counter storage (larder/appliances store) where the X is... With the boxing of the fridge lining up with the door wall, she can then put a small dresser/sideboard in front of that full width, next to the door. Those two combined should add a good amount of storage. If this works but she still thinks she needs more storage, or if the dimensions don't fit, then a U shape kitchen indeed, but don't make the new length go too far... you want to be able to get in an out of the kitchen space easily! Add a table against it as Minnie and Jen P suggest, possibly with a built-in bench (with storage inside) against the left wall... The joinery could even continue all the way down to the window wall as bookshelves or any other type of storage... Good plan to play with an existing sofa for now. Stainless steel sinks are ok, hopefully it will be an undermount. These decisions are pretty daunting I know but also very exciting!

I think shortening the lounge is a great idea. Could the new kitchen door go through the cupboard in the hall next to the shower room? This would make the new wall nicely balanced with the window in the new dining room. I think plan2 looks/works best but i'd suggest a few changes. For the tower run, having only a 20mm filler is to tight and doors open more than 90 degrees so they'll be rubbing at the freezer end, i'd suggest changing the 600 and 800 larders to a 1200 breakfast style larder, having drawers and worktop inside, shelved above and power for toaster etc, the doors can be pocket style so they open then slide down the sides out of the way when in use, make the wall nib a bit wider by about 100mm so you have 50-70mm fillers at each end, probably bring the towers forward (or make them extra deep) and this would allow for the pocket doors to slide away more. Depending on ceiling height you could have extra tall towers or top boxes on top and then infill about 50-100mm up to the ceiling. Also check the height of the appliances as in the pics it looks to high, i'd have a 450 frontal with pan drawer and internal drawer instead. On the opposite wall as long as all the 800 drawer units end past the window is good, window sill same as worktop possibly, (either end the run before or after the window) lose the 400 open unit in front of the wall nib and have a door (door could be made to look like 2 drawer fronts to match) on this as it will be just a dust trap, in the 1000 drawer units i'd suggest having internal drawers for utensils etc, the corner unit is good especially with the fly moon pull out as they're great (in my opinion) and as the corner post is made on site its gives the fitter more flexibility in positioning the units as its not a fixed corner. The sink run is fine but i wouldn't suggest opening a d/washer door to let the steam out as it can damage the surrounding doors, cabinets, decor panels and even worktops (thread on mumsnet where steam has damaged granite worktops). For the island if a 500 bin is big enough then fine but you might find a 600 pull out is better as its usually a 4 bin unit, possibly change the 1000 1+2 so its a 2 pan with internal drawer and then on the other side i'd have 2x 800 which would look more symetrical. For wall units its up to you, but if its an electric hob (especially induction) the extractor should be wider than the hob and if this area is going to be a main prep area than having wall units you can add extra lighting.

I’m presuming your water supply will be sited by the window and if so you need the sink, dishwasher and washing machine close to that. Ideally l think the window would be better on the adjoining long wall but if it is already there ….

On the opposite wall where there’s a bit of an alcove l would plan a run of floor to ceiling units. You could have one for storage of taller items (vacuum, broom etc) and one for a larder unit.

The dining area would be the area where the radiator is.
