Subway tiles within modern style?

I've always loved and wanted classic white subway tiles, either flat or bevelled.

However, in most inspirational images I see they're almost always paired with vintage-style bathroom suites and decor.

Can subway tiles still looks great in a very modern and minimal B&W bathroom?

Hi Michael, Sorry, but I have to partially disagree with you on this, daylight colour temperature is 6500K not 4000K. Yes, 4000K is warmer than 6500K but it does not give a truer representation of colour. Colour representation is measured using the colour rendering index or CRI. The closer to 100, the closer to daylight. The Megaman LEDs are 80 CRI for each of the colour temperatures. That said, the 4000K fitting will produce a brighter and cleaner feel to the room. However, it can look too harsh at night. 2700K is closer to traditional halogen fittings. It can look duller during the day, but looks a lot more welcoming in the evening - perfect for a soak in the bath. It comes down to personal preference in the end

I used white ones with white grout as splash back around hob and just up to window height around the rest of the kitchen. They were inexpensive and look quite stylish and unobtrusive. I would never opt for coloured or patterned tiles as they would inevitably date and tiling is SO permanent. I do however hate them with dark grout.

I still like it, I think it looks high quality, and I think it looks contemporary (which is different from trendy which can look outdated within 20 minutes of installation). And I still think that if you had chosen a plain floor it would look cheap/nasty/boring/dated. Instead you have a natural looking floor that has such variation it’s actually easier to decorate with it.
