On a purely aesthetic level the granite can definitely work in a modern kitchen. That stone is lovely so personally I would just choose the one you like the most. I would add the following though - There is a big trend for quartz now that looks like marble - the main reason being that as a rule of thumb natural stone (not just marble) that is light in colour tends to be more porous than darker stone. Porous means possible stains and marks from things like oil and even water. Natural stone is sealed with a sealant to attempt to overcome this but it isn't always 100% successful. Quartz however doesn't need sealing so it tends to be easier to maintain but some brands may be slighlty more susceptible to chipping. Speak with your stone supplier for clarification to help you decide.

Thanks all. When the templater came he confirmed there would be a 25mm overhang, so I assumed it would be over the posts too. They didn’t give me any drawings to ‘sign off’. I’ve had such a nightmare with my kitchen...the company I bought the units from we’re awful-wrong at every turn and everything messed up-really stressful and took a year to sort (no kitchen and 3 kids😱). I just wanted this done and thought it was really simple job...feeling very naive...and disappointed.

Hi, its a really nice space I know you mentioned you like the country style, you could incoporporate some wooden paneling similar to the image below for your wall and backsplash as it give a rustic vibe. Alternativly sage green tiles would lokk really nice and still keep the space feeling bright. I think a sage green would work really well with your white units and soften the black cooker (Ive added an image below). It would also work with either the grey floor you currently have or the beige travestine tiles if you did decide to continue them from your hallway. You could then add some sage accents like a clock, lights etc to bring the scheme together (taking inspiration from the below image.) And adding a plant maybe a Fern in a rustic pot will bring the country vibe into your space. Im not sure what your current units are made from but you could look into pianting some of the units to bring the colour scheme together. Hope this helps Louise
