Help with living room layout with two doors?
Comments (1)Hi mrsr71 Although you have said that you need everything pushed to the outside of the room, it looks sparse, if you bring your furniture in slightly this wont block any access just ensure you have sufficient space to pass around. Move your sofa which is located in the alcove out and have it next to the door (if it fits). You could then have a sideboard placed there which you can dress up with lighting and accessories. Your current rug is slightly too small, but see how it looks when you have the sofa next to it. We have a wide range of rugs in different style's and colours, take a look at our web-site for further options. You can even get some tailor made to a specific size. The link below will take you to our inspiration page this will give you an idea of what can be achieved with BoConcept. BoConcept Inspiration...See MoreHelp with living room layout!
Comments (3)Hi Alice, This is close to my heart because Iived in pretty ugly / poverty style shared accommodation for far longer than I like to admit (ahh the dream of an Aussie in London...) anyway, here is one idea, but it might take some talking to your landlord about (especially ask if your landlord can take away the tv unit altogether and put it in another property ) and then hang the TV on the wall - (you might have to buy a new tv if its an old style one). Treat the ugly radiator like a "mantel piece" ok its ugly (i totally understand), but when you confront it in this way you might get some better ideas for how to cover it. For now the cheapest option is to put a shelf above it (you'll need to ask your landlord again - put persuade them that it will increase the functionality of the room ten-fold as at the moment its useless).. The landlord might be open to you painting the radiator too... It wil be a big task depending on the style, but at least it won't be obviously "beige, dirty and discoloured - which I am imagining it is...) I hope this helped you a little bit? Let me know if you don't understand something. Jo...See MoreHelp with living room layout
Comments (13)Just out of interest, where is the tv? Or do you not have one? I had a small living room in our first home - terraced house so you walked into the lounge off the street. I put two sofas facing each other ie as you have it now (or a sofa and two comfy chairs) and the tv was on the right side against the wall (so the wall opposite the fire). It did make it feel less blocked off when you walked in - but that was from an entrance so I wanted it to feel more inviting and ignored the fact the front door was there. What to the other side of the closet? Ie I can see the stairs and then a cupboard but is there another door to the right of the sofa? If not then putting the sofa facing the fire (providing you can walk past at least one side) would be fine. If you want that effect but the sofa is too big then you could always look at selling it and getting a smaller one OR an L shaped with the smaller end opposite the fire...See MoreHelp with living room layout
Comments (6)Hi. You could push the sofa towards the conservatory a bit and then have a small accent chair with a low back to the left of the tv angled towards the sofa (Looks to be the space by eye). There are loads of small round side tables around ATM, maybe one next to the chair and then a rectangular one/ones/floor lamp one side next to the sofa? I would zone the main seating area with a rug. Maybe keep a chair where it is ATM but go for a Swivel one similar to pictured so it could face the garden/tv etc and then have a bookcase/display to the left of the fire? (Or you could swap chair and bookcase around and push the chair towards the burner). if you were to extend in the future I don't' know if I'd extend the kitchen side, maybe wrapped around, and take down the conservatory?...See MoreNicke James
