Help choosing paint colour/s for hallway and landing space
Comments (14)Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks...See MoreHelp with paint colours and slate flooring
Comments (3)Agree with Sonia, Slaked Lime is a good colour, it has a tinge of grey/green/yellow which is barely detectable but it works well with many other colours. The lightest may to too pale but the second lightest could work and worth a try. Also try Skimming Stone as this also may work with your colours. Test paint on large pieces of paper and move them around, don't paint on the walls, it not only leaves unsightly thick areas of paint but it is pointless against your current colours. A large tub of trade white is a good idea to get rid of the current colour, it also creates a benchmark against which you can judge how light or dark you want the spaces....See MoreHELP fireplace paint colour
Comments (13)yeah, I need to test a colour first. I tried one I found on ebay but was quite pink, wasn't too try a different shade but can't find it anywhere. so far all the masonry paint I have found here isn't actually a lovely stone effect texture like the stonelux is, it's more for painting actual masonry....See Morehelp with paint colour
Comments (5)Hi Jenny, Which way does your kitchen face? Do you benefit from southerly light? Light reacts with paint, changing how it appears so that will help with your colour choice. Ammonite is a lovely warm neutral that can look white in bright sunlight and warm grey in cooler lights - It's a great barely there colour in sunnier rooms and a pale grey tone in west/easterly facing rooms with cooler natural light. I always tell all my clients to paint out a piece of A3 paper, blu tack it up and walk past it morning, noon and night with their preferred colour. You've got to love it in all lighting situations and it's got to set the mood of the room you want. Quintessentially - how do you want the room to feel - start there and then the colour choice will pop out at you. Sunny and bright, dark and moody, classical and timeless...? Are you trying to increasing the feeling of light to balance the darker units or are you embracing the bolder colour tones? Hope that helps a bit! Good luck!...See More- last year
