Comments (49)Family traditions My grandparents from the 1930s until 1980s used to own a popular shop in a small town. Throughout this time my grandmother would increase her turnover every christmas by creating the most amazing handmade tree Angels and artisan crackers. From September until December it was a tradition of fairy and cracker making. I loved the glitzy fabrics, netting and bright tinsel that adorned the fairies. The cracker making was great fun the smell of the crackers when pulled was nothing like today. Just like Fortnum and Masons my grandmothers Christmas window display would be unveiled at the beginning of December, people would flock to buy her Angels and crackers. I never had one of the fairies and I often wonder if any are still in use today, I hope there is somewhere,in some ones home adorning a tree at the top loved by all as a tradition in memory of my grandmother. Sadly my grandparents are no longer here though the tradition of Christmas cracker pulling reminds me of the excitement and joy at Christmas pulling one of their crackers. Today nothing else cuts the mustard, even though I follow the tradition of making my own, of course I know what's inside. I hope my daughters and grand daughters will follow the family tradition in cracker making one day too. Peace and goodwill to all Ginny...See MoreI want to make a Lap pool.. Please help me.

Comments (12)I worked in Australia building swimming pools, including some celeb clients. If you can, try to get hold of a copy of ‘poolside’ magazine from Australia. This is a consumer magazine and should give you lots of inspiration. Construction-wise we would normally pour a concrete ring beam around the pool deck that would anchor into the top of the pool sides with metal rebar dowels. Next the bullnose pavers would be overhung around the edge of the pool and then paved up to, before grouting. By the looks of it you’d be retrofitting this pool surround so could cause structural issues if the ground around the pool is not well compacted, and the ring beam moved, while being attached to the pool itself. With this in mind, you may want to look at something like compacted hardcore with a resin bonded gravel over the top. This will be non slip, can flex, if the ground moves, and by the time you’ve poured concrete and then paved it, would be cheaper and faster to install. Aesthetically, it may also be a good fit? Am not sure on compatibility for use around pools - perhaps seek reassurance from a U.K. provider first and then contract a reputable local provider. Decking is another option but slip resistance could be an issue on natural timber and the synthetic stuff fades and warps. Hope it goes well : )...See Morewhat’s happening with bathrooms?? all grey and metro tiles
Comments (99)Hi, the shower was this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brushed-Gold-Bathroom-Shower-Set-Mixer-Tap-8-Square-Head-Top-Spray-Hand-Shower-/383739772939?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Not used it yet although the plumber said switching between then is a bit hard as the head drips a bit so? Also the bath filler is very high up but we have a fixed screen to the side and it sits right over the bath waste so doesn't cause an issue as far as we can tell. Tap is lovely https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383794535361...See Morerjodum01
