What do you think of placing the dresser next to the amoire. First will it fit there? I there enough room?

It might work well enough to sort of look like they are one piece. I usually feel sure about whether things will work, but this is honestly a stab in the dark, but worth trying.

Peginvalpo, I guessed that earlier lol there are slight differences in the American/UK language as to what we call things lol have struggled working a few bits out, and google has helped :) Unfortunately, moire came up as an art piece, but, has also given me ideas lol :)

Gender clash here. Tone down accent wall to medium neutral. Consider reflective surfaces for furniture and mix up (no sets allowed). Smoked mirrors above night stands with accent lights in front of them. Maybe 2 or 3 pics above headboard...small pics with large Matt and frames. Tone down bedding to medium tone, light pattern. Again no sets.

CDR - my apologies, I knew there was a reason why the bed couldn't be centred in room, but for some reason, the actual reason would not click in my head yesterday! We are unable to centre, as the door would not open. Would explain a lot hey :)

Oh......easy solution......switch the door to opening "out" instead of "in". Would mean resetting hinges. Would this work as far as how the hall is set up?

If so, try moving the bed and centering it, just to see how you feel about how it looks. If you feel it makes a huge difference (I think it would!), then you could consider changing the door.

Wagon Wheel. I would like to revisit. If you are willing to take all the stuff off, I think it could be used, if not in this room somewhere in the house. You would have to be willing to take the stuff off and take a photo for us.

I think it would be really nice to have such a personal item displayed in your home.

A quick trick - try draping your throw over a corner of the headboard, as if you just (artistically) threw it on there. Might look good, might look yuck, but easy enough to give it a try!

Here are some lighting ideas for you. Some expensive, some cheaper, just showing ideas for now to see what you would like. I believe I said "chandelier" above. What I meant was a semi-flush-mount like those below.

We would near enough be climbing over the bed to get in the room lol but it was a very good suggestion! The door is going to be changed next year as well. Lights, the second one looks great, and something that the hubby would like :)

I shall take the "stuff" off the wagon wheel and take a pic. Like I said, don't think it will work in house, but would be nice if it could, as it does have sentimental value. There are pics of my living room on here - was planning on doing that next (hubby doing kitchen and I am banned!) but then the bed got delivered, and that is a much quicker job than the living room.

Joots, I have already tried the "artistically throwing" the throw over the headboard, and the base, neither worked :(

I think peoples suggestions of changing that accent wall and the curtains are the way forward with the room. Not too hard to fix either, just need to find the right paper/paint! :)

Hi Candice. I still see we are discussing the existing wood furniture so I had an idea. Do you have a sizeable closet in the bedroom? If so I would suggest that you post pictures of it. If it is deep enough and large enough a closet organization system may work for you and your hubby and help eliminate all the overly large wood furniture. Many home imporvement stores sell them and now-a-days they are fairly well constructed if you go the budget route and most home centers can design the closet system for you as long as you have the measurements.

I would eliminate the curtains that hang since the room is small and go for a simple roman shade with a vibrant print on it or a simple (but vibrant border). You may want to consider a total monochromatic scheme to make the room feel really restful. Monochromatic is not easy to achieve but you CAN get there. Worst case scenario (If I were you) eliminate the hutch and tell hubby the tele is going to get hung there and have a really good carpenter lop off the boxy footboard and make it much more streamlined. As for the Wagon Wheel. Girl. Just. No... don't do it. At least not in that bedroom. You can strip it down and get that great carpenter I suggested to make you a base make the wheel the top and add a glass top to it and turn it into a coffee table. I am going to shut up now but hope you will post your advancement and let us see how things turn out.

Bed is beautiful you just need feminine accents. I agree white nightstand ps with little crystal/ silver/ mirrored accents. The biggest thing is also the bedspread. That has got to go. You need one with more pattern color and or/texture

What about topping the bedside tables with glass or mirror? Just get it cut to fit the size and shape. That might help add some lightness/silveriness along with new blingy handles. Also protects the timber from scratches, watermarks, coffee rings etc !

Hi Candice:

Just a few ides that will cost you little or no money:

1) Your lamps appear a little small to me. They are mirrored, right? So, I don't think you need to change them. Try placing them on coffee table books, similar to the size of those on the left side of the bed to give them a little height.

2) You need more versatility in texture in the pillows. I would remove the purple ones. Are the ones with the flocking decorative only? If so, they should be stuffed tight. Tricks are to stuff with next size up pillow/wrap in sheet batting/put 2 pillows in or combination.

3) I honestly don't think you need the other 2 pillows. Or consider adding a bolster pillow that would span the width of the bed in gray.

4) For your hardware on your case goods, I would go with something that is modern.

I know this sounds a little detailed, but the little details make the difference.

A few comments:

-many people don't read threads. Just hop on and look at first picture and comment on it. Don't ask me to explain it, because it is not how I think, but it is what it is.

-lamp looks much better! If you read in bed, they look like they still might not be hight enough, but that part is up to you. At least they look better.

-pillows look sooooo much better! You work quickly!

I honestly think the way it is now is great. Less is more.

However, the bird one is interesting and would go with your bird theme.

Armoire is the large piece of furniture. To left of it is currently stuff from kitchen? Thought ottoman could go there or center amoire and an ottoman on either side

That's where I used to have the ottoman with the old bed, but not enough room for it now there. Thinking of possibly centering the wardrobe, ottoman to one side, then I have a small stool, so putting that on the other side, with possibly a large plant in the corner. Plants in bedrooms..... Anyway, I can't work on that part of the room yet, until the kitchen is completed, as can't move anything around.

Get your kitchen sorted and once that's done you can return to this and possibly decide your next steps. I think you have made some brilliant moves already. Don't dismiss painting the furniture at a later stage. I am painting some heirloom pieces with Farrow and Ball paint for a flat I'm buying - the rooms need to be kept as light as possible so a sideboard, bureau and tables are all going from mahogany to a cream colour to match with a recovered sofa . Focus for room is an embroidered cushion, working out from there

I think it would look really good with the ottoman on the left and the wardrobe on the right.

Then, add a couple of pillows to the ottoman. Place art above the ottoman and it will fill the space nicely.

If you center the wardrobe, I would do matching ottomans on both sides. It will look really choppy with the little stool and plant.

Now, as another option, are you sure that dresser would not fit? It is wider than 41"?

Well, maybe when the kitchen stuff is out you can try different options (ones you want to try) in the wardrobe area and see what you like best.

(Actually, there isn't that much stuff next to wardrobe.....up to you, though. Hmmmm.

In the meantime, I think you could look for hardware for the cabinets and something for the end of the bed that isn't green.

Have you thought about having a mirror glass cut to fit the top of the bedside tables and then replacing the handles with crystal pulls to give a bit of a shine? Obviously this will look better if you could paint the units but......we understand .!

I think you should sort out some good lighting. Play with lamps and try to cast the light upwards. Or radiating across different areas. Have some shiny things placed, so they catch the light strategically by the bed in the corners either on small tables or shelves. Little mirrored boxes etc etc. good luck, hope it will all start to grow on you soon.

what about getting glass cut to fit the tops of the bedside tables and dressing table, and putting fabric underneath? a silver/grey shiny texture. this will tie the furniture into the bed, without damaging it, and could be removed or changed at any time.

Without reading all the comments - my, Houzz have been busy - it is not the bed that is the problem, it is the remaining furniture. A quick cheap solution is to paint white the wardrobe and the chests of drawers etc, change the knobs, handles - then everything will tie in. Also the back wall is too dark, but then this has probably been said before,

I think it might be better to accept that the bed has a built-in tv and not try to hide it under a throw, just looks a bit odd?
